How to check version of SAP NetWeaver Process Integration

Hi,

Where can we see the installed SAP PI version?

SAP PI is mainly used as ESB ( Enterprise Service Bus ) in our company. If we want to upgrade, what are the upgrade options and which version or product can we upgrade to?

If we do not consider the cloud platform and SAP HANA, what are the alternative upgrade paths available?

Regards

JianJia

Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am confused about this paragraph in SAP Note 138178.

In an XI/PI system, all components must be on the same major SP release version. This means that the Basis(ABAP), Java and XI components must all be on the same SP e.g. SP12

Now we know that the SAP_BASIS component is on SP13, and the SAP_XIESR component is on PI 7.5 SP06 Patch 1.

Does it mean that our SAP PI should be upgraded to SP13?

Besides, where could we find the information about new features of each SP-Level?

Regards

Hello JianJia,

Q: Does it mean that our SAP PI should be upgraded to SP13?
A: If this is a Dual Stack PI and this is the ABAP part, which is on Release 7.40 and SP13 and your Java part is on Release 7.50 SP06, then we can state that this is not a supported combination. It is really unclear as to how this could happen, how the Java side can be upgraded to Release 7.5 and the ABAP side not. So, it looks like these are 2 completely different systems? The ABAP SID is K*K and the Java SID is QPO.

Check the Usage Type parameter setting on the Java QPO side. Start the NetWeaver Administrator and navigate to 'Configuration --> Infrastructure --> Java System Properties'. Click the Services tab and select 'XPI Service: AII Config Service'. Check whether property "com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.usage_type" has value 'AEX'.

If yes, then you have a Java only PI and the ABAP stack here is probably some other system.

In the ABAP system, go to transaction sxmb_admin -> Integration Engine Configuration. The Role of Business System will let you know if this is a PI system or not. If it is, it will have the value Integration Server

Q: Besides, where could we find the information about new features of each SP-Level?
A: SAP NetWeaver 7.5 | SAP Help Portal -> What's New in SAP NetWeaver 7.5 (Release Notes)
