DNS resolution of local entries for hosted servers

We are setting up outbound email and wish to configure smtp server by name. DNS resolution forwarding is only done from client to SAP for a specific subdomain.

How should we proceed to avoid hardcoding the IP address for system communication?

Thank you for offering help and advice.

We have an internal email relay server. I want to configure through SCOT the sending of email from within our S/4 private cloud installation.

Currently only the internal DNS has a forward resolution for the subdomain reserved for the SAP hosted servers.

I am looking for DNS resolution by the hosted servers of a sublist of internal names, first of them the smtp relay server.

What options are available? I would rather avoid hardsetting ip in either DNS or host file. Can automatic resolution be configured?
