BusinessObjects 4.1/4.2 - Univers & Report DB connection errors after migration

Hello,

We are facing issues to connect to the target database, when launching/refreshing BusinessObjects reports, as a result of an export/import, between 2 VMs, of:

Connections,

WebIntelligence,

Users and Groups,

Inbox,

Favorite files

C.f. screenshot attached: infocentre-pmt1-en-connection-data-access-error.png

How to change the parameters (name / user / password) of the database saved in the connection LCMBIAR? To make it work on my recipe database.

BusinessObject Designer isn't deployed neither in the source nor the target VM, but we have it on another Windows VM.

PS: is it possible to set up a conference call with Imen Belhoul, who had helped us a lot for another problem, or with a French-speaking correspondent.

Thank you in advance.

Firstly, you cannot directly change the parameters (name/user/password) of the database stored in the LCMBIAR connection. You should import the connection from LCMBIAR into your BI system and then use UDT to adjust the connection parameters.

Second, you can use UDT on any VM to connect to your BI system, but remember that it should be of the same version/SP/patch to avoid errors due to using a different version.

Hello, thank you for your quick answer 🙂

Is there a guideline which describe how to use UDT to adjust the connection parameters ?

I think that's what I need

Thanks a lot

The error message shows that this might be a security issue - you need to give the appropriate user group(s) access to use the Connections. Also, if you're using ODBC, you need to make sure that the same ODBC DSNs are configured on the new server as were on the old one - they don't necessarily have to connect to the same databases if, for example, you use different databases for Dev, QA, and Production, but they do have to have the same DSN names.
