BI 4.2.9; Tomcat 9 -What is the appropriate way to change Webapp files outside of the custom config

I'm in the process of phasing in two new CMS servers and phasing out two old servers.  the web tier is staying not being touched.  I've been able to update the properties files in tomcat\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config.

I've noticed a few other files that still reference the old CMS (shown below) however I'm not sure about the proper method to update these and have the changes stick going forward.  The BOE config files have a clear process that uses custom folder.  Does anyone have input on this process or a reference that you can point me to?

  • BIPODATA   WEB-INF  WEB.XML
  • DSWSBOBJE    WEB-INF\classes    DSWS.PROPERTIES

Thanks,

Mike

I've always just kept separate copies of those files and copied them back in to where they need to be after upgrading or re-deploying the website.

I believe there is a way to update the files in the corresponding .war files so that they'll deploy correctly using WDeploy.  However, I've never considered it worth the time because those files get overwritten when you upgrade, so you still have to copy the updated files back.

Also, when I keep backup copies of the various non-.properties configuration files, I keep them in a similar folder structure as where they go. Most of the files have the same name, so by putting them in the folder structure it makes it easy to know where they need to be copied to.
