While Digital Transformation isn’t a new term, the concept of ‘Digital Experience’ has been evolving over the past year as UX, design, mobility, collaboration and content services have advanced and consolidated in the cloud. All leading analyst firms are talking about Digital experience as the evolution in enterprise UX. One can think of the ‘old’ Web-Interface paradigm as evolving on two axis – Web evolving to digital and interface evolving to experience. This means that when you, as someone leading an enterprise software project within your company, can no longer think just in the terms of “Lets build a web app” or “Lets design a mobile app”. Whatever you build – has to take in mind all existing channels as well as evolving ones (conversational UX, voice, AR/VR, etc.).

On the SAP Cloud Platform, SAP is addressing this emerging category of enterprise software, which is designed to meet the needs of companies undergoing digital transformation – with the ultimate goal of providing better experiences for users. We are doing so by bringing together all the services under one umbrella – Digital Experience Services (DXS). DXS is a collection of all the services and tools an enterprise customer would need to build a digital experience.

On the ‘design time’ side – SAP Web IDE (with its new multi-cloud edition), SAP Build, SAP Theme designer, the newly announced SAP Enterprise App Modeler (a.k.a SEAM), enabling rapid mobile app development (RMAD) based on metadata driven modeling and soon – an exciting partnership in the RAD area (stay tuned!). See Sue’s and Chaim’s blogs on SEAM and WebIDE (respectively) for more details on that front.

Then on the ‘runtime’ side – all the different components are becoming more and more aligned – whether it is the cloud portal (both freestyle sites) and Fiori Launchpad, or SAP Jam for collaboration or the Cloud Platform mobile services (especially with the nice traction around the Apple partnership / iOS SDK) – All of them are aligning around two main experience themes – the SAP Fiori design language and custom experiences created by customers following their own corporate brand.

This year at the ASUG Annual Conference / SAPPHIRE – you will see all of these coming together as well as some other topics – CoPilot, Fiori Cloud now supporting S/4 financial apps and last but not least – some of the digital experience services already supporting the multi-cloud strategy of the SAP Cloud Platform (Fiori Launchpad on CloudFoundry, etc.).

If you would like to learn more about digital experience services - please take a look at the list of sessions listed in Milja's blog - https://blogs.sap.com/2017/04/20/digital-experience-at-sapphirenow-2017/

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Thanks for sharing the detailed information about DXP. Of the many vendors I have sat in on demos, they are all equally confusing. Part of the issue is the 'label' of what it is in the first place. I mean, yes, it does involve content management, but also document management, and then single sign on, integration, there is just too much. Open Text does a great job calling it an 'Enterprise Information Management' system (EIM), but even that is a little vague. Oxcyon, who makes a product called Centralpoint, calls it an ECOSYSTEM, or Digital Experience Platform, which seems to be closer to mark because the management of information goes 'both ways' so it is an ecosystem. Centralpoint is a UXP (User Experience Platform) providing CMS, Portals, Reporting, SSO, RIA, Email alerts to manage all of your user’s needs. My experience with centralpoint has been great. I have 5 years’ experience using the centralpoint platform.
