Unable to login to S&OP via Excel

Former Member

Hi Colleagues,

I had to uninstall S&OP Excel add-in recently and now I need to install it again.

I downloaded the addin from Service Market Place, both the S&OP and S&OP in memory and installed it (only one was installed at a time).  The
install goes without any issues.

When I try to log in via Excel I get this message:

“Logon failed because this S&OP addin for Microsoft Excel is outdated.  Download and run the latest installer from your S&OP home page”

I tried many variations of install such as logging off my computer after uninstall and logging back to install.  I tried with older zip install files I had from before.  Colleagues shared the zip files they had (which work for them) but don’t for me.

I tried creating new connections, and when I press ‘Look up Planning Area’, I’m able to select from a list of available planning areas.  But in the end I don’t get logged on due to the error.

I cleared Meta Cache

I had recently also installed DP Excel addin and later uninstalled it.  Wondering if that is causing some conflict.  Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Thank you –

  Kamala

Excel AddIn need to fit with SOP-patch version: The latest available excel only works with the latest available excel addon-patch

In my project we have both: latest SOP patch and latest Execl Patch, all fine

But I cannot access e.g. the SAP internal Sandbox system with Excel as SOP does not have latest SOP patch, and I get the same error message

--> so the error message in both cases is the same (SOP patch outdated or Excel patch outdated).

If you have second-last SOP patch, you might need to download the excel patch one version before

Yours

Irmi

P.S.: you can clear your cache both in excel logon-pad, or be deleting the sub-folders on your computer under

C:\Users\<your user ID\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\Metadata

--> e.g. folder  abd2465bf60206c3ae315004e4c29ce5

In very hard cases after de-instalation it might help to delete the folders below

C:\Users\<your user ID\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\

They will be re-installed with the installation

But Connections.xml stores the logon information. You might want to backup that file somewhere and restore back after initial new login

Hi Irmi,

thank you for the helpful suggestions.  Sorry I did not update the message in time but I did try downloading the lower Excel patch from Service market place and installed it.  Now I get a different message "login failed because settings couldn't be read".

After seeing your message, I deleted teh folder and re-installed the lower patch but still getting same message as above.

When addin is installing I get a DOS message as follows "warning: this syntax is deprecated or you mis-typed your command.  Run ngen to display a list of currently supported parameters".   The message disappears quickly.

Not sure what to do next but will keep trying options.  Once again, thank you!  if you can think of other things I can try, pl. let me know.

thanks-

Kamala

Which link do you post in the connection manager?

Should be like:

https://<mycompany>.sop.ondemand.com/sap/sop/addin/excel/

We had issues at the beginning when we used the short version only

https://<mycompany>.sop.ondemand.com

and the files in folder

C:\Users\<your user ID\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\

had not been generated correctly

(cannot remember properly, but both EPMXLClientPreference.XML and SOPXLClientPreference.XML need to be there

If it works not for you but for a colleague, try if you can copy & paste his files here, but only if they dont exist yet and the long link was unsuccessful as well)

If that does not solve and you find a different solution , please update here for me to learn

Thanks

Hi Irmi,

here is the final result...

When you log in via the Web GUI, here is the information you see for Excel addin:

Consulting: For planning adjustments and Excel reporting, use the SAP S&OP Add-in for Microsoft Excel. Please download version 3.0 SP1 Patch 4 from (and a box with a link)

Sandbox: For planning adjustments and Excel reporting, use the SAP S&OP Add-in for Microsoft Excel. Please download version 3.0 SP1 Patch 1 from (and a box with a link)

On SMP only the two following Excel addin versions were available as of yesterday (there are more now), but neither of them worked for me.

SOPEXCELADDON00 - patch level 0

SP01 for SAP SOP EXCEL ADD-ON 3.0 - patch level 3 (this may have been mislabeled because it did not work)

Raghav sent me a link to the correct version of Excel addin
and that worked perfectly…Thank you Raghav   I'm able to login to SAP environments now.

thank you for your help - I learned about the folders and such.

Kamala

DId you manage to somehow have both versions in parallel and switch on depending on the customer / system you want to work with?
