Specify staging method after PMR creation

Hello,

in a PMR we have a component that can either be picked from a silo or from a container in a pallet storage. 

When the production order is created, it is not yet known whether the component should be removed from a silo or a container, but only when it is released.

We would like to use different staging methods for both cases:

1) Silo: Not relevant for Staging

2) Container: Cross Order Staging 

How can we achieve this? Do we always need to create/change the entry in /SCWM/PSASTAGE before production order release, depending on whether the stock should be picked from the silo or container?

Or is it also possible to create the component item in the PMR initially without staging method (and goods movement bin) and to specify the staging information later?
