Why purchasing value key field becomes mandatory in material master...?

I was creating material using MM01 but earlier purchasing value key field was not mandatory in material master in purchasing view... Now when I am trying to create new material using MM01 or changing the material using MM02 the purchasing value key field is became mandatory in purchasing view...

I am not getting what is happened exactly.... why purchasing value key field becomes mandatory.....

You need to check and find technical name of that field in MM03 screen and use t.codes OMSR,OMS2 & OMS9 to control that field in material master. For more refer Config. steps to control a field in material

Hi,

May be as per your business requirement , it has been set as Mandatory.

But you can change this configuration as optional as shown below.

Find Selection Group key , and as per selection group you can set value.

Hope, now you can identify from where it has configured.

You need to reach out to business or your immediate supervisor for this change where this field is mandatory! Perhaps for your case, business process change may be additionally your business sending reminder/s to vendor to supply goods based on your purchasing value key setting in your material master where reminders days are defined.
