Where is the portal content for erecruiting WDAs from EHP3 and EHP4?

Hi guys,

System Information: ECC 6.0 EHP4 SP 55 Stack 11, Portal SAP Netweaver 7.01 BP SAP_ESS on 1.41

one of our teams is in the process of preparing the implementation of eRecuiting/Career and Job (frankly, I have no functional experience of these modules and I don't know which one I'm currently talking about or whether it's all one big pulp, sorry for this) and they want to use the WebDynpro ABAP solutions for it. In SICF it's these services here they want to use (technically it's eRecruiting, but isn't it rather Career and Job functionally?... ah well..):

We have the Business Packages ESS 1.41 and also had our basis team implement BPERPERCAD 1.40 and BPERPERCRE 1.40. But we can't find the portal content for the respective WDA Applications shown in the screenshot anywhere. I've found a blog outside of sap that says:

SAP HCM customers who are using the WebDynpro for ABAP (WD4A) user interface for E-Recruiting applications (delivered in EhP3 and EhP4), but are not yet using EhP5, have likely experienced a minor nuisance; SAP did not deliver a standard method to incorporate the Internal Candidate Start Page and Internal Job Search applications into the Employee Self Service (ESS).  Bummer right?

Is this true? If yes, what's the consequence for us? Do we need EHP5 on ECC to use the applications that are supposedly available from EHP 3 and 4 already? Or do we just have to Import ESS 1.51 on our Portal to have the portal content for the EHP4-WDAs in our ECC.

This is all very confusing to me, I hope somebody can disentangle my confusion 😕

best regards + cheers

Lukas

Thanks all for your replies.

You just need to create WDA iViews for the applications that you want to use. The ICF services in your screenshot are the old BSP applications, WDA e-Recruiting applications are named ERC_*. In EHP5 portal content is configured in the backend system in means of Launch Pad customization meaning there are no portal iViews.

The Applications in my screenshot are all WebDynpro ABAP. The naming prefix is confusing, since the old BSPs also use HRRCF*, but I assure you, the ones in the screenshot are WDA. I am aware of the new ERC* WDAs in EHP 5 but we are on EHP 4 so this is currently irrelevant, thanks anyway.

@ all: naturally, I would create custom iViews of Applications SAP doesn't provide, but exactly this is my question, whether there is standard portal content for these WDA, i.e. if I was too blind to find it or whether it simply isn't available and I have to do it myself. Based on your replies, I take it there is no standard portal content, but could you confirm this again so I know we aren't talking at cross purposes?

Cheers, Lukas

Hi Lukas,

I just checked our system and it seems that the applications you need are available as part of ESS.

The workset Career and Job that SAP mentions here http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm contains the following in our system:

Is this what you are looking for?

I guess you are already aware of the Recruiter business package/role exist as well and the functionalities that are part of MSS?

Hi Jan,

this is not what I'm looking for, but this is exactly what makes the whole thing particulary deceptive. These iViews contain the BSPs Samuli mentioned in response to my opening post, but they do not contain the WDAs from my screenshot. Just to make entirely sure we talk about the same thing, can you confirm it's this PCD path?

pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.worksets/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job

This is the workset provided below the normal ESS-PCD path, I have checked this one AND the EHP2 folder AND the EHP3 Folder AND the EHP4 folder but didn't find the particular services from my screenshot.

You are correct. The WDA services in your list are part of the WDA ESS portal package that is shipped with EHP5. Until and including EHP4, the standard ESS role pointed to the BSP applications. In EHP5 the workset is called Career and Development. See the link below. However since Launchpad customizing is used in EHP5 and not Homepage framework, you can't use the iViews of the WDA ESS portal package in EHP4. You would still have to create them yourself.

This is exactly what I needed to be confirmed, thanks Samuli.

Hi Lukas,

Ok, I wasn't aware of that either. But can see that Samuli Kaski has cleared it all up for us 🙂

Hi Lukas ,

I remember creating an iView and embedding it in a page for internal candidates, referencing it through a custom configuration in Homepage Franework, so that it's available under "employee self services" in portal.

Simple as that ..

As Samuli says just create the WDA iviews. Actually the job search application is called hrrcf_a_emp_job_search and the candidate profile for internal candidates is called hrrcf_a_startpage_int_cand
