Shipping Point

Hi There,

My customer has three plants and from one of their plants they do distribution of goods to customers.

Could anyone explain me what is the exact concept of Shipping point? Should I be assigning only 1 shipping point to that plant or do 1 for standard and 1 shipping point for return?

Thanks!

Hello brindasoundar.

How are you? I have excluded the Tag "SAP S/4HANA Cloud" and included the Tag "SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Supply Chain" for this question, as Shipping Point is a Structure related to Supply Chain Line of Business.

Regards.

Juliano Romanato.

Hello brinda91,

From my understanding the concept of shipping point is, to process and monitor the deliveries, in brief, is used to ship products to a customer, it represents the point of departure or receipt of the materials, you can find more details here:

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_CLOUD/aff0b3f5f46c42a2b2c0fabfc233bab2/5d1bbf53d25ab64ce1000000...

Per my experience, working with S/4HANA Cloud, public edition for example, based on the SAP Best Practice, you need to create at least 3 Shipping Points and assign them to the Plant (Shipping Points: Standard, Customer Consignment and Return), so to answer your question from my end you need to assign at least (this is based on the product you are using) those two Shipping Points (Standard and Returns).

Hopefully someone else can shed some light on this question.

Regards,

Gabriel
