Hi Gurus, my client makes construction material..

FG has many flavors and they use MTO VC.. but the underlying SFG is same for all and they would like to produce that and keep in stock.. once we get FG order, VC is done at sales order and we produce the FG and send to customer..

What strategy should we use for FG MTO VC material?

HI,

Please check with the strategy 55 which is similar to the strategy 50 planning without final assembly.

You can explore more on strategy 55,  for an example refer the below

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_ERP/dae616f6ebf842de8ccc4d9824bbc755/4e23bf53d25ab64ce10000000a174cb4....

In a test environment please check and verify the below,

1.Master data

Material master for FG -Strategy 55

Material Master for SFG -Ind/Coll indicator 2

2.Maintain PIR for FG -please check how demand plan can be maintained for configurable material

https://community.sap.com/t5/enterprise-resource-planning-q-a/how-to-create-demand-planning-for-conf...

3.MRP run

after MRP run, Planned order will be generated for FG for the PIR quantity which will not be convertible (planned order type =VP)

Planned orders will be created for SFGs based on the dependent requirement, which can be converted to the production order – production can continue here

4.Post sales order

After Sales order creation at FG level, both PIR and VP planned order will be consumed by the sales order qty. For FG after next MRP run, New planned order will be created for sales order requirement which is convertible to production order. Production will then completed consuming the already produced SFGs.

Finally the PIR will get reduced after PGI to the sales order.

I looked at 55 but we dont have variants for the Fg..We just have kmat material as FG..

Hi, You can use this strategy for KMAT FG also without variants. When you maintain the PIR for FG without usage probabilities for characteristics, FG BOM will explode only with the underlying SFG in case if it is the only component without object dependencies. (PIR>Schedule lines >configuration supporting point).

Thanks Arjuna, I can also use 25 for header and 70 for the sfg right? What is is the difference between that and using 55 without material variant

Hi, yes it’s also possible to use 70 at SFG level, if the demand can be planned more accurately at SFG level.
