Material status error not shown in Check Material Coverage app or MD01N when running MRP

Hi,
After upgrading the system to the 2022 release of S/4HANA, we are having problems with the material status where MRP has been restricted with a B in the configuration of the status.

When running MRP for the material with a status that should prevent MRP, the message "MRP run completed" is given without any pop-up saying that MRP is not allowed because of the material status. The MRP is actually not executed, so the material status is blocked the MRP technically - but not providing any info. The same goes for MD01N where no messages are displayed for the material.

When entering MD04, the system provides the right error message. Also, in MD02 the system provides the correct message before MRP is executed for the single material.

Of course, users must have the possibility to see the errors/warnings from the MRP Live run.

Has anyone experienced similar behavior after upgrading? No notes describe the exact problem mentioned.

Hi, As I have observed, regardless of the S/4 version MRP live doesn’t prevent execution as in MD02 even it’s blocked for MRP (MRP message=B) . After execution it will display the materials with errors or warning so that the planner can take actions in the next planning run. After MRP run, have you checked whether the requirement can be met by the ‘materials with messages’ in transaction MD01N or ‘Display MRP Master Data Issues’ Fiori app (F1425A)?

MRP live doesn’t prevent execution as in MD02 even it’s blocked for MRP (MRP message=B) . After execution it will display the materials with errors or warning so that the planner can take actions in the next planning run. You can check  the usability of the app ‘Display MRP Master Data Issues’ Fiori app (F1425A)’

Or as a workaround update MRP type as ND for those obsolete materials.

The functionality of the "Display MRP Master Data Issues" is working fine, and we get an error in there. But the problem is in material coverage app. Before the upgrade we got the error message in a pop-up stating: "Error(s) occurred during the MRP run. Material cannot be used in MRP due to material status 05", when executing MRP for one specific material.

Hello, You can use this T code MD_MRP_PERFLOG to get actual log MRP live  result /logs and also you can look this T code MD_MRP_FORCE_CLASSIC to see prerequisites of MRP live run.

I don't see such error in our system as we have migrated system into S/4 1909.

In S4, you can create a new MRP area to exclude for plant or storage location in SPRO and then assign that MRP area to your materials. Run MRP and now check no MRP run for materials those have new MRP area!

It has nothing to do with MRP areas. The system doesn't give any error when executing MRP for at material with a status that prevents MRP. Both in MD01N and Check Material Coverage app
