Equipment on Loan and Maintenance Plant

Client frequently loans equipment to non-company entities. Client wants to record physical location of equipment while on loan. (There could be hundreds of locations.) Thought about creating functional locations for these locations but was unsure how to handle maintenance plant. Also considered creating an order.

How should this situation be handled?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response Bob. I had not considered your idea.

I should have pointed out we are using Flexible Real Estate (RE-FX) and are in the process of integrating RE-FX with PM. SAP recommends using functional locations for this integration. We have no problem installing equipment in real property function locations. However we are stumped when it comes to equipment on loan to an external party.

You indicated you have an equipment record. Keeping it simple you could just use the standard address functionality associated with the equipment master. The address number is on the standard ALV equipment list and you can enhance that to include some of the fields of ADRC. Additionally, a quick ABAP can be created to report the current address but I would explore using the standard ALV equipment list. If you need to track historical addresses then it gets somewhat more complicated but not prohibitively so based upon your limited statement above. The four basic tables involved would be EQUI, EQUZ, ILOA, & ADRC if you elect to go down the ABAP path.
