CK40N CK24 CK11N COSTING RUN

Hello Experts,

I am new to product costing and looking for some help to understand the tcode CK40N, CK24 and CK11N.

1) Does periodic costing run CK40N need to be performed during downtime? During the costing run, if a transaction is posted what will be the material cost?

2) Can costing run be done weekly, what are the complications?

Just to add costing run cannot be done weekly - it should be miniimum periodically (monthly) - if you try to do Ck11n when released cost estimate already there for period in material master you will get error like released cost estimate for period already exists.

how could you run it during downtime?

once you run ck24 the current price will be updated in the material master, accordingly any transaction will be done after that will take the new price. However, any transaction before that will take the previous price. 

2) Can costing run be done weekly, what are the complications?

I believe it can be done if needed only. Otherwise we run it periodically.
