This is the BI Rapid Deployment Solutions (RDS) EMEA Webcast from last week.  The usual legal disclaimer applies that things in the future are subject to change. This is the second half of BI for SAP applications, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know - EMEA Webcast - Part 1

Figure 1: Source: SAP

Figure 1 shows what they mean by RDS

They have three components to deliver software, based on best practices.  The speaker said you can pick and choose scenarios.

Services can be defined by SAP or partners

Figure 2: Source: SAP

The SAP speaker said with the Cloud that customers don’t have to worry and will see dramatic savings

I noticed in the middle that RDS solutions propose skipping the traditional blueprint approach.

Figure 3 shows the start, deploy and run phase.

While I have not personally used BI RDS solutions, other RDS solutions come with pre-defined templates you can reuse, at no cost.

Figure 5: Source: SAP

Figure 5 shows the different lines of business and reports available

HTML5 applications make reports consumable on Mobile BI devices

The speaker said it was an open framework -reports can be extended (not part of RDS)

Figure 6: Source: SAP

Figure 6 shows new content for HTML5 applications

Smart business applications – new to HANA live – combine different reports from different lines of business in a cockpit way to enable monitoring – complete scenario on mobile devices

The speaker said they are using Fiori

Figure 7: Source: SAP

Figure 7 covers current and future roadmap.  The speaker said they have140 predefined models

Complete content is delivered

For an RDS project, they deploy 10 selected reports out and 2 applications – HTML5 and Fiori application – deploy in 12-14 weeks

It can be directly on Suite on HANA or as a sidecar approach and you can pick and choose packages

For the next version in 2014 the plan is to deploy to the HANA Enterprise Cloud.

Question
