Following Day I and Day II also Thursday started with mini codejam. But this time it was a full house. I was really excited. craig.cmehil lead 16 participants through HANA XS development process and I completed their transformation to HANA ninjas while guiding them through HANA UIS to build great looking HANA apps.

Craig has a secret source for the huge amount of energy he produces when speaks to audience. Everyone was mesmerized.

There were issues with network and probably with AWS HANA instance, but nothing could stop code ninjas.

Some HANA UIS observations: There was just one person who heard about OpenSocial and sometimes it takes people time to understand concept of client side widgets and APIs, which are not attached to particular server technology. It was clear that developers don't understand why we don't produce default opensocial descriptor and have ability to select existing HTML directly in a wizard. Some came with even more requirements asking for widget templates (table, form, map, chart, etc).

All liked the way sites are built, some asked for more ways to adjust site layout.

I had some spare time so I went to learn about SAP and partner solutions. I heard about SAP Co-Innovation Labs, HANA innovation solutions, advanced analytics - absolutely fascinating stuff. I continued to partners and get some stuff for my kids. Some would say this is the most important part of Teched and I didn't invest proper time for that activity, plead guilty. This is the photo of best stuff I received, thank you Revelation:

Had 30 minutes to learn about some really cool partners solutions.

At noon winfried.wenisch and myself had a follow up meeting with large oil&gas customer. The meeting was in an executive dining room, which was a benefit by itself. Can't give more details here, but I'm really excited by the opportunity for HANA UIS.

Next step: meeting with SAP colleagues from HANA marketplace. franklin.herbas really knows to tell funny stories while we waited for Asi.

By the way, did you know HANA marketplace is built on hybris, an e-commerce company SAP recently acquired? There are quite a lot of SAP and partner solutions you can find around the HANA eco-system..

Here asi.messica and Franklin are in front of HANA marketplace:

And (almost) last part for today is HANA Cloud Portal hands on with asi.messica  and yariv.zur. Little gnomes worked hard to fix the issue we experienced yesterday. All who joined trial version recently got their account fixed and emails were sent to participants of the yesterdays hands on session. Thanks a lot for the heroic HANA Cloud Portal dev team for fixing issues on the spot.

Today everything went extremely smooth and participants built beautiful sites.

We'll finish today with a team summary meeting and I have my flight just before midnight.

Just before I finish my reporting for TechEd LasVegas 2013 I would like to talk about Las Vegas experience. We didn't only work, but also had some good time.

So let's start with dinners: Italian restarunt on St. Marco sq of Venetian  - was just ok, despite the fact they claim to be the best Italian on the strip. Steaks in Outback were great, mine Fillet Mignon 12oz rare came exactly as required and was just delicious. Sushi Samba was very tasty, very pricey and very noisy.

We had also nice walk along the Strip.

guy.bavly , nimrod.barak and myself at Bellagio fountains, which never let you down:

Another photo from Strip:

So here I finish my report for TechEd Las Vegas 2013, see ya next year. My next post will be on the TechEd content topics after some digesting of all the feedbacks and discussions.

Sincerely,

Vitaly
