Day 2:

SAP TechEd 2013 officially got kick started on Tuesday morning with the Key note speech from Vishal Sikka, member of executive board and chief technology officer, SAP.  The summary of Vishal’s key note has been simple – “Great technology aids & simplified human life” and SAP HANA is that great technology which is transforming SAP and its product portfolio.

During the course of the keynote, Franz Faerber, Chief HANA Architect, Sam Yen, Global Head of Design & User experience gave demonstration of innovation in various products at SAP.

As an HANA application consultant, I find the following innovations (to be released part of HANA SP07 in November 2013) aspects worth mentioning here, simply because this will make development in HANA much simpler, easier and more flexible.

  • SAP HANA Browser based IDE: A complete HTML5 based IDE (similar to HANA Studio) running in a browser. It has all functionality (Content, Catalog and Security) of HANA studio.
  • SAP River Definition Language (comprehensive solution for specifying complete business application: data model definition, business logic, access control, validation & error handling)

So after the keynote session, It is time for the hands on workshops and live expert sessions. There were also many booths set-up by SAP partners (both hardware and software). This was a good opportunity to know various offerings from SAP partners (from hardware/software vendors to consulting offerings) under one roof. There were also free goodies to collect from these booths as souvenirs.
