The North American SAP Retail Forum kicked off today in Dallas, Texas with high energy and community spirit. SAP employees, partners, and customers all joined together and pitched in to package more than 22,000 meals for the Food for Orphans organization. These simple, nutritious meals will help feed some of the more than 60 million orphans who go to bed hungry every night.

Following the Food for Orphans outreach activity, event participants were invited to go on exclusive store tours at local retail companies. Leading retailers such as PGA TOUR Superstores, BCBG, Sunglasses Hut, and the Dallas Cowboys gave participants a look inside their business and how they leverage SAP to improve retail operations.

After the store tours, event participants returned to the Westin Galleria for interactive breakout sessions. In the session titled, Supply Chain as a Competitive Weapon: How the Winners Do It!, the audience learned how leading retailers are targeting supply chains to improve business viability in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving market.

During, Defining the Future of the Customer Experience, the speakers explained how technology can be used to keep the retail experience fresh and relevant as channels evolve and consumer engagement preferences change.

And in the session, Customers at the Center of the Merchandising Universe, participants discussed the need to shift from product-centric to customer-centric merchandising in order to maintain consumer connections and loyalty.

The next two days of the SAP Retail Forum are jam-packed with exciting sessions and speakers - and the SAP Big Data Bus rolls into town!

Thankfully, SAP offers participants a handy SAP Events app for easy agenda planning on the go. It includes all event information, maps, and activities, and allows you to connect with other participants, check into sessions, and post comments to Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
