I am pleased to introduce tamas.szirtes, who is the speaker for session POP114 Using a Mobile Portal to Monitor SAP HANA ASUG TechEd Session in Las Vegas.
Q: Please tell us about yourself
A: My name is Tamas Szirtes. I am Hungarian, but I live in the Netherlands with my wife and 2 daughters.
I work for Intenzz. Intenzz as an official SAP VAR Gold Partner is a reseller of SAP software licenses and a consulting company in EMEA located in the Netherlands. We dedicate ourselves to strategy, architecture and implementation. We are fully focused on SAP. I am one of the partners at Intenzz, I am responsible for the integration team, which is busy with application integration, mobile and portal solutions. I work a lot together with our partner companies, SAP of course, but also Cisco, Intel, etc. to create new mobile/HANA solutions.
On the very first day of my professional career the project manager told me that I was a perfect employee: single and too ugly to get a girlfriend so I will be able to work many hours (he was kidding). Well, I like to think that he was wrong, but actually I have put many hours in my work. I have studied a lot (2 masters, a PhD, OpenHPI, etc.) and by now I have 15 years of experience in SAP. I will never forget that my first SAP job was changing tapes for backups of the R/3 system of the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Working on R/3 “hands-on”, well, changing the tapes 😉 was a big thing that time and I was happy to add it to my CV. I am proud that I did this little job and later a Master thesis under the supervision of Alexander Zeier, who, some years later, played an important role in the creation of HANA.
In my first job at Bertelsmann mediaSystems (USA) I started as a “normal” SAP consultant, but since I was one of the few with Java knowledge (of course, I was just out of school), I got involved in a Java/HTML-based web shop development project based on SAP R/2. In 2000 it was serious stretching of the technical possibilities 😉 Then ITS, Enterprise Portal, NW Business Client and each time new UI solutions followed. I have done almost 50 projects so far, most of them regarding SAP Portal. In the last two years I have been focusing on Mobile technology, especially in combination with HANA. This includes the Mobile Platform, Cloud Portal, Mobile Portal and HANA XS and UIS. I am involved with these technologies also as the secretary of the VNSG User Experience focus group. Here I am busy with developing a community of Dutch SAP users interested in UI-related topics.

Q: Please tell us about your ASUG TechEd Session
In my TechEd Las Vegas session I will present one of favorite topics: creating mobile apps in a lean way, using the Mobile Portal and monitor HANA anytime, anywhere on mobile devices. The solution called HANA Control Center App helps our administrators to monitor the Intenzz SAP HANA system on mobile devices. This app provides a graphical overview of resources, the availability of system service, allows for CPU and memory checking, alerts can be read, relevant manuals can be consulted, the right people can be contacted directly from the app, etc. It allows my colleagues to do a health check on our SAP HANA system, anywhere and anytime. The presentation will show the business case, the technology, demo, benefits, and lessons learned.
