Hear SAP expert, Robert Hernandez, talk through a couple of customer examples – one customer who chose the “upgrade and migrate” route and another who chose a “parallel landscape” path to provide you some considerations and factors that went into their decisions on adopting BW on HANA.

These two customers had very similar business drivers, but because of the different technical, functional or business considerations, chose different routes to arrive at a similar decision on moving their BW configuration over to HANA, simplifying their landscape and being better able to support their user reporting requirements.

Customer #1: Full Upgrade and Migrate Scenario

Business Drivers:

  • Speed, faster reporting, faster data loading

Decision Criteria:

  1. Re-architect their BW landscape
  2. Upgrade and migrate faster than a phased approach
  3. Easier to migrate high volume of data than to reload in a fresh BW system
  4. Easier for IT to maintain one production box only

Customer #2: Parallel Landscape Scenario

Business Drivers:

  • Faster reporting, faster data loads, increased user self-sufficiency
  • Simplify and drive down maintenance, support and deployment costs

Decision Criteria:

  1. Get live as quickly as possible in certain areas
  2. Re-architect their BW landscape
  3. No significant amount of configuration to move over
