Hi SDNers,

I have been waiting from sometime to have my hands on the graphical mapping option through NWDS.

SAP has released the much discussed SP06 for EhP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 (aka 7.31). With this SP upgrade one can now use the graphical mapping option to develop mappings in NWDS.

You would need the SP06 update of NWDS 7.31 which can be downloaded from here(SMP login required)

To use the graphical mapping option through NWDS navigate to Preferences > Web Services > Enterprise Service Browser, this is the same window where we maintain the connectivity details to the ESR that we want to access from NWDS.

You will be able to see an option under Editor Settings > Use Expression Editor for Mapping, uncheck this option.

Once this is done, you can proceed to create your message mappings in the NWDS.

Below is the screenshot of a sample map for a field, this looks very similar to the graphical view in JAVA Swing client.

Although this view is not as extensive in features to the swing version, for example, you cannot view the queues neither can you change the context of a field. Only the below options are available;

It is good to see SAP providing this as an option but I believe it will be quite sometime for the NWDS graphical view to become as powerful and user friendly as its swing counterpart.
