LEARN: Updates on Foundational Training
A range of training offerings are now available for SAP Business Suite on SAP HANA, SAP HANA itself and SAP HANA Applications including Design Thinking. The offerings include e-Learning, use cases, company storytelling, video, simulations and animations. In the SAP HANA Academy you will explorer why SAP HANA is revolutionizing business, discover solutions to transform businesses, take SAP HANA for a test drive and find resources and communities to fast-track your implementation in teaching and research. You can also download the free book, SAP HANA Essentials eBook written by a long term collaborator with SAP who many of you will know – Jeff Word. This book provides readers with either business or technical backgrounds a broad overview of the architecture, tools, capabilities and use cases for SAP® HANATM and shows how it enables organizations to analyze their business operations using huge volumes of detailed information instantly. Design thinking is the approach to apply when working with innovation technologies – and here you can join the 90-minute video-led cruise.

To get up to speed rapidly with SAP HANA, watch the high quality animated SAP HANA Video - The Adrenaline of Business. This is the first of a series of videos on SAP HANA. Be sure to check the University Alliances Community for future videos. You should also check out  As We May Work which illustrates a future where there is seamless and immediate integration between devices across the globe, and how such integration can affect the lives of real people, based of course on SAP HANA including a basic overview on SAP HANA. You can also learn from real company storytelling including how organizations implement SAP HANA.

On SAP TV, you will find a wealth of demonstrations and movies to explain the central themes of SAP HANA. A good example is that scientists at the Berlin university hospital, Charité, uses a newly developed mobile healthcare application based on SAP in-memory technology analyzing and comparing cancer related patient data.  The "HANA Oncolyzer" supports the parallel analysis of millions of genome and other patient data within seconds in the main memory. Doctors and researcher can find faster and better the best cancer therapies for cancer patients. Watch the following video for more information, Fighting cancer with HANA Oncolyzerheck. At the research group “Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts“ of Prof. Dr. Hasso Plattner at the Hasso Plattner Institute, they are conducting research projects with the goal of revolutionizing enterprise systems and applications based on them. At the core of SAP HANA is the concept of In-Memory Data Management. The HPI has a range of papers and conceptual models to illustrate how In-Memory computing works and how it revolutionizes the speed of analytics.

The Hasso Plattner Institute has a series of very insightful academic lecture recordings. The site is excellent for faculty who would like to understand SAP HANA from an academic perspective as well as from the perspective of the man who drove it's development, Hasso Plattner himself. Explore the HPI open platform for courses: http://openhpi.de/.

Take SAP HANA for a test drive and find resources and communities to fast-track your implementation. Our SAP HANA Community provides access to SAP HANA via the downloading of a SAP HANA One client and the live use of Amazon Web Services and a wealth of training and self-learning materials that are accessible on the basis of time and data used. Check the details of the system usage particularly if you are planning on using systems for hours or using large amounts of data. The AWS system is a very good way to see SAP HANA in operation for an hour or two: http://www.saphana.com/community/learn/cloud-info. The SAP HANA Marketplace provides access to a wealth of learning resources for those starting to deploy SAP HANA for the first time http://www.saphana.com/community/learn/startups/marketplace.

Throughout 2013 and beyond, SAP will be holding many events for partners, customers and SAP University Alliances members on SAP HANA for those starting out using SAP HANA for the first time or those that are knowedgeable about Hana but want to develop their knowledge fiurther or to just share best practices and case studies. The SAP HANA Community is the best place to keep up to date with these events http://www.saphana.com/community/learn/startups/.

The first SAP HANA curriculum is being developed within our global SAP HANA @ UA initiative. The initial course addresses more than one SAP product. We cover the end-to-end scenario from the data source, via data replication into the SAP HANA database, through modeling and the graphical representation of the data in analytics dashboards. Learn more about the curriculum and how to participate in the corresponding blog, "SAP HANA @ University Alliances Initiative – What’s Next?"
