Day 2 at TechEd Vegas continues to be really hot for SAP NetWeaver Gateway.

CD160 – SAP NetWeaver Gateway development for Beginner hands-on session was a big hit. Here is some comment from the trainer Jin Shin: “The session was completely full and there were a lot of people on the wait list trying to get in.  Total of thirty laptops with 2 per laptop and they were fully occupied.  All the "overflow" seats in the back (about 15 or so - no laptops) were occupied as well.  We received a lot of positive comments on the session. “ This session will be repeated one last time on Friday 10:30 am – 12:30 PM.

Today there was a rare opportunity to meet the chief product owner Stephan Herbert and chief solution manager Adi Kavaler of NetWeaver Gateway and Duet Enterprise together in one session. They co-presented  CD204 – SAP NetWeaver Gateway and OData in Detail. Afterwards in the Gateway road map Q&A session they were surrounded by a big group of highly engaged audience. CD204 will be offered one more time this Friday 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM.

Even Bjoern Goerke, head of SAP Technology and Innovation Platform Core, presented NetWeaver Gateway in his session today.

University of Mississippi shared their implementation scenarios in a customer session.

Here are some scenarios they have live and running. If you search for “University of Mississippi” in the Apple App store, you can find the latest iPad app for campus news, events, info sharing developed by  OleMiss  for the students and faculty members powered by NetWeaver Gateway.

Some latest update about Gateway in general:

With the shipment of the new Service Builder as part of SAP NetWeaver Gateway 2.0 SP5 early Oct. 2012 we have completely rebuilt the developer story for service provisioning on the ABAP stack. Besides supporting the professional ABAP developer, we now also allow the code-free generation of OData service based on RFCs/BAPIs as well as on a number of business object frameworks like SPI, GenIL, BW Easy Query. Different to our tools support up to SP3, this is now also possible for all NW 7.x releases, on any Suite backend and in an extensible fashion on top of the Gateway Core programming model OData Channel. SAP NetWeaver Gateway is used as a key enabling technology for SAP Business Suite future versions as well as is integrated with the Sybase Unwired Platform.

Here are some key assets to help you understand the SP5 capabilities:

·         the various supported development approaches are introduced in a blog on SCN

-·        in a introductory video on YouTube we illustrate the end-2-end developer story around Service Builder

·         How-to videos in the Gateway channel on YouTube, explaining typical development scenarios and applications powered by NetWeaver Gateway in all details
