Even though it has only been two years since the acquisition of Sybase, the evolution is so fast and fascinating that I thought interesting to keep track of the most important events happening in the SAP Mobile Application Platform.
Instead of posting in the blog itself, I filled up the wiki page unofficial History of SAP Mobile Application Platform that like an ongoing collection can be kept fresh and updated by all the SCN community members.
In a nutshell my personal digest of events that you can check out in the wiki page unofficial History of SAP Mobile Application Platform
June 2010
Together with my great team that includes sapmentor ivan.femiafabio.dimicco2, luca.grilli luca.macagnino andrea.soresini @MarcoStucchi alessandro.lavazzi, I jumped into this fascinating mobile world in Jun 2010 as soon as SAP bought Sybase.
We meet friends at Sybase Milano and we had our first chance to put our dirty-hands on the SUP 1.5.2 just installed in our Labs.
Strange to think now but at that time iPhone was not yet supported and many people didn't consider it an "enterprise-ready" device.
Fall 2010
SUP 1.5.3 included the support for iPhone and by end of year the SSO with SAP backends arrived.
Spring 2011
SUP 2.0 introduced two big milestones:
Beginning 2012
It was the time for Android finally fully supported, yes it's six months ago. (Android started to be supported only with the Hybrid Web Container and later the native API were delivered without the automatic code generation from the workplace).
It was also the time for the terrific Mobile Analytics Kit (MAKit) that I'm sure will reserve a number of good surprises.
Then the unexpected agreement with the leaders in the area of Mobile Application framework based on the Web standards like:
Summer 2012
SAP acquires Syclo, a leading provider of enterprise mobile applications and technologies. The mobile portfolio extended so much introducing some doubts in terms of strategy that I'm looking forward to see about SUP and Syclo convergence.
To improve the consumption, I also created a timeline with dipity.com unofficial History of SAP Mobile Application Platform - in dipity.
Then, since dipity is a bit slow, I also copied to timerime.com unofficial History of SAP Mobile Application Platform - in timerime that unfortunately is in flash.
