When you attend TechEd as a speaker, SAP Mentor or exhibitor you get the chance to host an expert networking session. This is a really great concept, as you can easily interact with participants: it's a informal living room like setting with plasma screens for 15-20 people, duration is 30 minutes, focused on the attendees and the presenter who can share his/her experience.

This year I decided to host a session (besides being a speaker at ASUG session: PMC227: The New Signature Design in SAP NetWeaver Portal EhP 2 and being an official unoffical speaker at ASUG session PMC231: SAP NetWeaver Portal as a Launch Pad for Mobile Applications😞

EXP209 - Mobility by SAP Portal, Lounge 5, Tuesday, 4:30 P.M.

The objective of my network expert session is focused on SAP Portal on device:

Not only I will discuss with you why and how the SAP Portal can be used for mobilizing your business, but I also plan* to demonstrate - involves live coding and deploy - how easy it is to develop and run a mobile application that uses the SAP Portal. Idea is to do this is only 15 minutes (you may also call the session: try to build a mobile application in 15 minutes). I do not have access to a Sybase SUP installation, but I know Phonegap, so given some extra minutes I will also convert the online application to a Phonegap application.

The application

To give you some impressions of the mobile application I will showcase: it is an application that will give the system administrator of an SAP Portal the ability to do basic user admin tasks:

Get a list of all users

Get a list of possible actions the administrator can do for a user

List assigned roles

Get the list of assigned groups

Deactivate the user

Change the password

The screenshot for "Get User Details" is missing: this will be implemented during the session.

*plan: I hope to bring a laptop with a SAP Portal VM installed. If for some reasons (Murphy) this won't work, I promise to show at least screenshots.
