Here is some technical information for the recent Mobile BI iPad application. Additional resources for this new application will be available on http://help.sap.com

 

Installing SAP BusinessObjects Mobile on iPad

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client is supported on iPad 1 and iPad 2. To install SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client application on iPad device, perform the following:

1.Download the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client application from the iTune’s App Store.

2.Synchronize the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client with iPad from iTunes.

 

Installing SAP BusinessObjects Mobile Server

You have Tomcat with same version as that of the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise server version. The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server is supported on Tomcat Web application server. To install Mobile server on Tomcat Web application server, perform the following:

1.Stop Tomcat Web application server.

2.Copy the file, MobileBIService.war from one of the following SAP BusinessObject Enterprise locations, as appropriate, to [Tomcat home directory]\webapps.

• For SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.0 SP02: [Install directory]\Mobile 14\Client

• For SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 SP04: [Install directory]\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications

 

Note:

MobileBIService.war is supported only on Tomcat.

3.Start Tomcat.

 

Note:

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server can be installed on the same Tomcat Web application server on which other SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Web applications are deployed. It can also be installed on a separate Tomcat Web application server.

 

Configuring Categories for iPad

SAP BusinessObjects Mobile application displays the available documents from the configured categories on My Reports screen of iPad device.

To configure the categories, perform the following steps:

1.Locate and edit the file, [Tomcat_Home]\webapps\MobileBIService\WEB-INF\mobi.properties.

2.Add the required categories to the request sources (default or iPad) as shown below.

default

default.corporateCategory=Mobile, Category 1, Category 2...

default.personalCategory=Mobile, Category 1, Category 2...

ipad

ipad.corporateCategory=Mobile, Category 1, Category 2...

ipad.personalCategory=Mobile, Category 1, Category 2...

 

Note:

• If you do not specify any entries for iPad request source, the values specified for default request source is considered.

• If you specify values for iPad request source, the values specified for default request source is ignored.

Security and Deployment

4.1 HTTPS Support

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server supports encrypted communication with the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client. If you want to encrypt the communication between iPad application client and SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server, you must configure HTTPS on Tomcat.

 

Reverse Proxy Support

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server supports the reverse proxy communication between the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client and the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server. If reverse proxy is enabled for Tomcat Web server, the client can access the application using the appropriate reverse proxy URL.


Note:

Reverse proxy is supported only with Apache HTTP server.

 

DMZ and Firewall Support

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server supports deployment in DMZ environment. SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client on the extranet interacts with the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise server on the intranet using the DMZ environment.

To enable this deployment, perform the following:

1.Configure the -requestPort and -port parameters for the following servers:

• CMS (for authentication, querying InfoStore, and browsing the repository)

• Web intelligence report server

• Adaptive processing server

2.Open the listening ports (-requestPort parameter) for the above mentioned servers on the internal firewall.

3.Open the Tomcat port on the external firewall.

 

Note:

The communication between the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client and SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server is via HTTP protocol. The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server communicates with SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS server, Web intelligence servers, and adaptive processing servers in Corba mode.
