We are happy to announce that on May 12, 2011 the new SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) solution became generally available!
The solution is delivered with the SAP ERP 6.0 Enhancement Package 5, and can be implemented on a standalone ERP hub or on top of an operational ERP system. The new solution includes functionality to govern master data for Financials, Supplier, and Materials. In addition SAP customers are able to model their objects using the Custom Object category.
Ramp-Up for MDG started on Dec 20, 2010 and ended with its general availability on May 12, 2011. The development and launch team had planned a maximum number of 20 customer projects during the ramp-up phase. Based on the overwhelming response from SAP ERP customers, we saw twice that number. We ended up approving 14 projects for MDG for Financial Data, 8 for Supplier, 12 for Material, and 6 for MDG for Custom Objects.
A series of Ramp-up Knowledge Transfer (RKT) workshops have also taken place in six locations across EMEA, Americas, and APJ. The workshops covered topics ranging from architecture, to deep-dive hands-on explaining each domain capability and extensibility. The workshops welcomed over 50 SAP colleagues as multipliers from pre-sales, consulting, and support as well as attendees from over 10 different partner companies.
Every customer can now install the SAP ERP 6.0 Enhancement Package 5 version of MDG. Please note that there is a separate pricing for MDG under the following material numbers:
