Being at my first TechED i was really very excited and happy to be in Bangalore. When i stepped inside the venue i was amazed to se so many people (Read SAP Employees, Partners, and Customers) all on one place!

This by far is the single biggest Technology event that i have witnessed. It all started with the opening key note by MD V.R. Ferose who spoke fluently with an emphasis on the punch line that "SAP is ON", well by that time we all were ON as well 🙂 The heat was certainly felt by the sheer number of 4400 people present.

Next in line was the session by CTO and SAP board member Mr. Vishal Sikka. In his presentation he said that SAP has recently (yesterday i.e. 30th of November 2010) released a new Product like called SAP HANA which is High-performance Analytic Appliance which enables organizations to instantly explore and analyze all of their transactional and analytical data. He shared one real live customer whom SAP worked with directly with date volume of 490 billion records to be processed!!

He also showed some real cool new application which has been built over SAP HANA and uses mobile sensor to capture real time information. I was amazed by the Canadian National Railway demo wherein they actually could locate locomotives on Google Map by harnessing this technology!

Then came the turn of sponsor Partners Accenture (where i am currently working) and IBM. Accenture is represented by Mr. Sukesh Choubey and IBM by Mr. Sanjay Bose. Both of them laid emphasis on continuous improvement as per the business.

Though i didn't had any fixed agenda for the day and also i was very keen on meeting people and connecting with them i choose to take a stroll around. I went to every booth that was beautifully set up and communicated with lots of people. I also interacted with fellow SCN members in the Community Hub.

The most awaited Demo Jam started sometime in the evening. I had finished few Sessions (One of BRF+ and NetWeaver BRM and other on Live Office presented by Fellow colleagues from Accenture). Actually the only dissapointment was that there were no CRM specific sessions on day 1. Moreover there is not too much emphasis on CRM this time.

The whole area was packed to its full capacity when Demo Jam started. I must give the due credit to all the 6 teams and big thanks to Craig Cmehil who conducted it with highest enthusiasm. He is the most enthusiastic person i have ever met. I met him when he was moving out and all he said "Hope you enjoyed it!!” Craig, if you are reading this, you are THE BEST!! Announcement of new SAP mentors was also done.

Once the Demo Jam was over and people started to move out slowly. I waited for the music which was by the local fusion band and had dinner with my team members.

All in all it was real hectic day. A big thank you for all those who are behind SAP TechED for making this event on such a grand level and yet ensuring maximum enthusiasm.

Watch out for day 2 and day 3 updates.
