Some of the attendees at SAP TechEd in Las Vegas are still en route home, and already, I am seeing many tweets confessing to attendees' suffering from PSTW syndrome. Yes. post SAP TechEd withdrawal syndrome is striking many of us who had great experiences in Berlin and/or Las Vegas. On one hand, it is completely understandable, since there was great learning and community building at both events. However, our colleagues in the Eastern hemisphere have not even had their big event yet. Is is really fair of the rest of us to be weeping and wailing? In one of my favorite movies, Moonstruck, there is a great moment when Cher suddenly slaps Nicholas Cage and shouts sharply, "Snap out of it!"  That is the essence of my advice to everyone suffering from PSTW syndrome: let's snap out of it and get to work. I would suggest that there is much that we can do to recover from PSTW syndrome.

  • Help make Innovation Weekend in Bangalore as successful as it was in Berlin and in Las Vegas.
  • Plan an SAP Inside Track event in your area to share what you learned at TechEd and take it to the next level.
  • Reach out to the volunteer leadership and offer to share your learning at the user group in your area, whether it is an ASUG chapter or another user group event.
  • Be thinking about the next level in your industry or technology, and consider presenting at the next big event. the ASUG and SAPPHIRE conferences in Orlando or SAPPHIRE in EMEA.
  • Consider sharing your learning right here on SDN as a blogger.

Let's face it, any of these events would be a great place to build on your great experiences at TechEd and extend the learning to those who were not able to be with us. I'm confident that Innovation Weekend in Bangalore could benefit by the lessons learned in Berlin and Las Vegas. There are lots of locations that would appreciate an SAP Inside track event. And trust me,  the Call for Speakers for both the ASUG and SAPPHIRE conferences will be open before we all know it. It may seem a little early, but I suggest that any of us could think about what we learned in Berlin and/or Las Vegas and how we could pay it forward to others in our community by taking it to the next level. Both we and our community will be better for it.  So let's snap out of it!
