Trilogy about 1st SCN Dashboard Design Challenge in China - Episode 1

Since the topic of business intelligence has been getting more and more popular in China since last year, we launched Dashboard Design Challenge for China in this Jun. In total, we received 47 dashboard submissions by deadline, 30th Sep. I would admit that the number is beyond my expectation because business intelligence is still a new topic in China, compared to Europe and North America.

Since Jason Lax helped me to post these submissions, he is fascinated to these submissions and found Check Out the Entries for the Chinese Community's SAP Business Intelligence Dashboard Design Contest. I asked SAP China BOBJ experts (developer, demo team and pre-sales) to check all the submissions and the feedback is at least 15 dashboards are excellent, which also shows the fact that China got dashboard talent. Nathan Qi, who's SAP China dashboard expert, There is championship about Crystal Dashboard Design in China.. after he checked these dashboard.

I also checked these dashboards and found out some of them are very creative and cool. They are:

1. Statistics of Chinese Taiji Quan.
   
   
2. Real time stock market price board, it called web service from data provider of stock market.

3. Dashboard for every day, it provides 4 sub-dashboard: health checking, commuting checking (for saving energy), on duty checking and super-market price checking.

You can also find many other great dashboards in these 47 submissions, e.g. utiliy KPI analysis, sales analysis, retail performance, airport cockpit, financial management cockpit, production line management cockpit, and etc.

I think I will check with jason.cao/blog and kirby.leong/blog whether we can arrange the group-contest for global dashboard guru and expert in the future.

The final score will be judged by public voting and 8 member jury panel (6 are from SAP management team and 2 are external influencers.) Although most of them are in Chinese, I'd still like to call global SCN member for voting. The deadline of public voting is 29th Oct 2010.
