Question from calcutta: "Some of the users in BOE are not able to schedule the Crystal reports in CMC.
HOw do i add appropriate security rights?"

Dear calcutta:

CMC is meant to be a system administration tool. The access to this tool should be limited to the BusinessObjects Administrator only. It should not be exposed to the users or you will run into issues.

Report scheduling should be done in Infoview portal. The permission to schedule report or to reschedule the report instance is set in the CMC by the BusinessObjects Administator. You did not specify what version of BusinessObjects that you are on. Assuming you are running XI 3.1, the following are the steps to grant such permission:
-- log on to CMC either as the Administrator or as a user with Administrator right.
-- go to the report folder where the Crystal reports are located, right-click to select "User Security".
-- select or highlight the group that you would like to grant permission, then click on "Assign Security" button.
-- click on the "Advanced" tab and click on "Add/Remove Rights".
-- this will take you to the page with granularity on permission.

The following is a screenshot of the permission page.

It depends on whether your Crystal reports are using a universe or accessing the source data directly. If it is the latter, you will need the login account information in order to schedule the Crystal reports.

Hope this answers your question.
