Looking for an SAP Expert?  Post Your Job Now - Free

The SCN Career Center is now free of charge to all employers!  Take advantage of this resource to connect with qualified applicants in the SAP ecosystem worldwide.

Call this our own version of an "Economic Stimulus Package" ...

We launched the Career Center on SCN (SAP Community Network) in August 2009.  I posted a Introducing the Career Center, Part of the SAP Community Network at that time to introduce this new service to the community.  The bottom line: we see this as a significant benefit for all SCN members ... including SAP partners, customers, independent consulting firms, vendors ... and of course individuals.

Some of you had questions about why there was a charge associated with posting job openings on the site.  As I mentioned in my previous blog, the career center is hosted and managed by a third party, so there is a cost associated with it.  The fee-per-job-post enabled us to defray those costs.

This year, however, SCN is sponsoring the Career Center in order to make it more accessible to the community and to better support SAP's valued partners and customers.  Many of our customers and partners are only just coming out of the down economy of 2008/2009... and extraordinary people with SAP skills are looking for career opportunities.  So, we are covering the 3rd party costs fully so that our members (customer and partner companies) don't need to worry about paying for job postings during this difficult economic cycle.   Individual members never pay to post resumes, search for open positions, or apply for opportunities.

Will the site always be free?

SCN is sponsoring the Career Center right now and is paying the 3rd party fees in full as a service to our individual members and our customer and partner companies.  We will likely move those funds to sponsor other initiatives in the future, depending on future priorities and SCN members' needs.  Don't expect this to always be free ... take advantage of the free postings now.

Do the benefits of the Career Center change?

The career center still offers the same great benefits:

  • Worldwide availability - employers can post jobs anywhere around the globe, and select multiple cities and even multiple countries for each posting.

  • Broad functionality - employers and prospective employees can take advantage of searchable job postings, job alerts, and a resume database. The resume database still requires employers to have a valid job posting in order to access it.  Also, the database itself is still anonymous, so employers need to request the applicants' permission first in order to receive the applicants' contact information. This protects the applicants from being bombarded with calls and e-mails from recruiters (something our community members told us they wanted ... and we listened).

  • Interactive Nature of SCN - both employers and applicants can collaborate with others in the Career Center Forum.  Once employers engage with an applicant, they can get a sense of the applicant's capabilities by viewing their participations in the blogs, forums, and wikis on SCN.

We're Trying to Do Our Part to Help Our SCN Members, and Our SAP Customers and Partners

The change in policy and costs - to make job postings in the SCN Career Center free for now - is our attempt to help you accelerate out of the recent global economic challenges.  We hope our actions will remove one more barrier to help you achieve personal or organizational success in 2010.

We wish you great success in the year ahead...  and if you're looking for talent, we encourage you to look within the SAP ecosystem, especially at our most-active contributors to SDN, BPX, BusinessObjects, and the University Alliances communities.
