Hi,

In my previous blog I demonstrated the screens and fields used in OrgPublisher interface for SAP.

In this blog, I shall attempt to demonstrate how to extract data from SAP into OrgPublisher.

Once again we start with the T-code /N/EHR/SOL71_ORGPUB in the command prompt.

We reach to OrgPublisher screen as follows:

Assuming we are extracting the Current Plan version for Organizational structure, we shall leave the Plan version as 01 for Current Plan, and select Object type O for the Organizational Unit.

Next we define the root object or in this case the root Organization Unit from where we shall start our chart downwards. Use F4 in the Object ID field to browse to the required root object (org unit, in this case).

In Object status, we leave blank to pick the default "All existing" statuses.

Reporting key date, enter the required date, I would leave it to today's date selected by default.

Primarily we shall be using  only two tabs i.e. "Select  data" and "Output". For extraction ordinary users will only use these two tabs.

In the "Select data" tab, use F4 search help to select required output format, in this case I shall select the standard output format provided by OrgPublisher /EHR/ORG to extract org chart data. It will auto-generate the Evaluation path used to extract org chart. If we wish we can restrict the extration by dfining the number of levels or leave this field blank to select all levels. This is optional field and we can skip it, by default the system will consider "all levels" unless specified otherwise.

Similarly, the Template field is also optional, but recommended to see the data in a more user friendly manner. Using F4 search help will display the available templates and I would select /EHR/ORG_EN i.e. the English version of the template. I will also restrict it to "One language" to correctly display the text entered in other lanugages using roman script. In one case, where user was using roman script for a language other than English, the field values were not displayed correctly. The display was given in German language, however, restricting the Language for text data to "One langauge" radio button with EN value resolved the issue and the text was displayed in the non-English language as entered by the customer.

This is all for the "Select data" tab. Now we need to make a few entries on the "Output" tab before executing the extraction.

NOTE: When we switch over the "Output" tab, the system will prompt that the template is existing and do we wish to overwrite it. We can ignore the message and cancel it.

In "Output" tab, all we have to do is select the location where we want to save the ouput file and tick the "Call OrgPublisher application" to view the output after extraction. Default path are preselected in the File ouptut area, but these can be changed using F4.

Now we are good to extract data. Click on Execute button or use F8 key. The system will display a short output report on the number of records extracted, using what output format and evaluation path etc. etc.

The output can be seen in the OrgPublisher's windows based application.

This is basically, how, OM data is extracted out of SAP into OrgPublisher. At a basic level no additional information is on display, however, we can choose the infotypes from our SAP HR system and select the fields that we wish to add here. OrgPublisher also offers standard fields to add.

In the next blog I shall demonstrate how to add additional fields in the output.
