In this blog, I will be sharing the issue encountered with deploying SAP Netweaver BRM applications in CE 7.1.1 preview version. First of all I would like to thank the BRM product development team to come with the detailed cutting across industry verticals reference application demo and ready to run reference application projects in the SAP NetWeaver Business Rules Management Resources Center. This is a great start for beginners to understand about the Rule Processor in SAP BRM.

I encountered an issue with deploying the BRM tutorial scenario in the preview version. When I get in touch with the SAP BRM Product development team in SAP Labs, India and raised the issue to the SAP BRM Product Manager (Rajagopalan Narayanan). It surprised me; there is a bug in the preview version for BRM usage type.

Here is the issue with the CE 7.1.1 Preview Version for BRM, the core component BRMS-FACADE (tc~brms~facade) has failed to start due to some version incompatibility.

Before you start with your BRM Tutorial scenarios, ensure that the above mentioned application component is running fine in your CE 7.1.1 system. Here is the step to check the same from your CE 7.1.1 system.

NWA->Operation Management->Systems->Start&Stop (Java EE Applications)

Filter by ‘brms’

The temporary  fix to resolve the issue is to deploy the new version of BRMS SCA’s (Available on request by sending email to Rajagopalan Narayanan, BRM Product Manager, He is currently working on the right way for getting this fix out onto SDN for the preview version, soon you can see the new build with the fix in SDN download section).

After deployed the new BRMS SCA’s, the component is running fine and able to run the BRM Tutorial Center demo applications.

The reason for writing this blog is to give a heads-up to people trying out the BRM Tutorial scenario in the Preview CE 7.1.1 version (since it is a trail version with limited product support from SAP).
