SAP TechEd ‘08 is fast approaching and Jason Lax's great SAP TechEd 07 Mural 1 brought it home even more. In his blog Jason writes "... keep in mind that April sits midway between the last and fast coming TechEd season..." It's amazing how time flies. TechEd '08 planning is well underway and I wanted to let you in a bit on the SDN Lounge concept and more importantly to ask for your collaboration on making it the best lounge yet!
Obviously the SDN Lounge will include all the usual musts of years past; a roomy area to meet friends (both old and new), a lounge to chill with the best cup of coffee at TechEd or connect via wireless, to learn, teach, network, a place where those interested can have coding fun.
But last year in Bangalore we added two twists and ask anyone there ...they were a hit!
The first was the Wii and boy was that a favorite, especially the tennis doubles! I heard a few people say it was the most exercise they'd had in a long time 🙂 See the picture below taken by Marilyn, of Chip & Craig testing the equipment the day before TechEd, although in this case, the name of the game was baseball. The second was the way people earned tickets to play the Wii and that was by creating or expanding their community profiles. We even added user's pictures! Our objective was to familiarize people with the wiki and especially to show, how very easy it is to use. You don't have to be a developer to use our wiki!
We've decided to use the same successful concept behind this year's SDN Lounge. That is to say, based on popular demand, it looks like the Wii will be coming back!
So where does your collaboration come into play? The second part of course! In order to play the Wii everyone will need to earn their ticket. The question is, how will it be earned? It should be by doing something that highlights an area in SCN, or perhaps a tool. While some good ideas have been discussed such as video blogging or the Code Gallery...I'd really like to hear YOUR opinion.
What area or service on SCN should be showcased at TechEd in our SDN Lounge?
In order to gather all your thoughts and comments and to allow people to expand on others' ideas, I've of course opened a wiki page (how could I resist). So please add your input here.
