This blog covers the latest features and most interesting improvements in support package 14 with regards to the Content Management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver 7.0. Please note that this list is not complete but an extract of the highlights.

Knowledge Management

Activity Reporting

You can use activity reporting to record activities in KM repositories. For example, you can find out which users have performed which file operations at what time in a repository. Since the written log files are machine-readable, you can trigger statistical evaluations of the collected data. For example, you can calculate how often a document has been called or which use has created the most documents.

Subsequent Change of the Persistence Mode for CM Repositories

With this support package, a subsequent change of the persistence mode is possible from the DB mode to the DBFS mode. Changing from DB to FSDB, from FSDB to DB/DBFS, or from DBFS to DB/FSDB is not possible.

Transport of KM Content (Enhanced)

With this support package, you can create export templates. This is useful if you want to transport the contents of certain folders more than once or regularly. In addition, there is now a connection to the Change and Transport System (CTS). As a result, automatic import of KM content from a source system to a target system is possible. The monitoring of transports has also been improved. A progress bar with a percentage counter informs you about the progress of running transports. You can now transport items with constant GUIDs which ensures the validity of relations in the target system (e.g. essential for the transport of web pages including content).

Transport of KM Configuration Data (Enhanced)

You can now use the Change and Transport System (CTS) for automatic transport of KM configuration data from a source system to a target system. In the case of manual transports, you can choose between .par and .configarchive for the format of the transport package.

Web Page Composer

Customizable Web page toolbar

The system displays a toolbar at the top of each Web page (Feedback, RSS, E-Mail, Print, Add To Favorites). As of the new support package, you can choose in the page editor which of these functions you want to display. You can activate and deactivate each function individually.

RSS Link List

As of the new support package, you can create RSS link lists (RSS client view) in addition to conventional link lists. An RSS link list displays the title of the first five entries of any RSS feed.

HTML Editor with Advanced Scope

Until now, there was an HTML editor in Web forms with basic editing features (bold, italics, underline, indent, outdent, numbered list, bulleted list, insert link, and insert graphic). As of the new support package, there is another HTML editor with advanced features (all functions of the existing editor, plus align left, align center, align right, text style, text size, text color, background color, insert special characters, insert horizontal line, and table functions). If you create your own Web forms, you can specify which of the two HTML editors is to be used. Of course, you can make available neither or both of the HTML editors.

Publication Status

In the Web Site Management iView, the system displays a new column showing the publication status of Web pages.

Transporting Web Sites

The standard Knowledge Management transport function was enhanced in the new support package (see above). You can now transport entire Web sites, for example, from a test system to a production system.

Changing and Translating Labels for Web Content

When creating new configuration objects that are required for use in new page layouts or web forms, you can specify bundle files that contain keys and labels for translation purposes.
