Welcome to Process Integration Track at SAP Teched-2006, Las Vegas

The Process Integration Track Sessions can be found at the weblog link below, which details an overview of all the Handson and Lecture sessions covering at this year Teched.

URL: The Process Integration Track at SAP TechEd Las Vegas

In this weblog i am going to discuss the following sessions (Handson & Lecture) briefly i will be covering this year at Teched, Las Vegas. As a Modertaor for XI Forum on SDN, i will be participating in the SDN day at SAP Teched06 event at Las Vegas. I will be discussing on some of the hot topics: XI Performance, XI Best Practices etc. and interact with SDN members at the SDN break out sessions.

  1. ccBPM in the Process Integration Capabilities of SAP NetWeaver-EPI252, Hands On-2hrs.

In this hands on session, we will be covering basic and advanced topics in ccBPM, including Containers, Correlations, Abstract Interfaces, Process step types, Implementing processes and Utilizing process patterns etc. The exercise will focus on mainly the Designing a Business Process in the Integration Repository using Correlations and test the Scenario with multiple Receivers.

At the Process Design time, Correlation enables you to define which message must wait for and allows to assign the messages that belong to the same process instance without knowing the message id. The exercise will walk you through defining a Correlation in a process using Payload Fields of the message, and activate the Correaltion in the Send and Receive step of the process, where a unique key (GUID) is created automatically and persisted. During Runtime the GUID's are matched from the list and the system assigns the message to the process instance that has the same GUID.

  2. Building Transformations Using the SAP Conversion Agent by Itemfield-EPI250, Hands On-2hrs.

In this session, attendees will learn about how they can use the SAP Conversion Agent by Itemfield to integrate unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data to automate processes, in their Landsacpe. They will learn how to install the Conversion Agent Studio and create parsers for unstructured (e.g. PDF) data, how they can incorporate COBOL copybooks with a few mouse clicks, and how they can work with libraries of structured eBusiness standards such as SWIFT or EDI etc. They will also learn how to deploy these transformations in SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure, part of the hands on exercise.

SAP Conversion Agent (partnered with Itemfield ) is a data conversion system that enables you to create interfaces between any data formats and XML-based systems. The Conversion Agent can convert unstructured, semi-structured, and structured formats to XML, and vice versa. The Conversion Agent comprises the Conversion Agent Studio, to develop data conversions and the Conversion Agent Engine to configure data conversions. During runtime the Conversion Agent Engine executes the data conversions.

In SAP Exchange Infrastructure XI the Conversion Agent is called by using an adapter module in the corresponding Adapter. It is integrated in the module processor of the adapter (Sender or Receiver) at the Adapter Engine level. The module in the sender adapter uses a data conversion statement to call the Conversion Agent Engine and it then receives the converted XML document.

  3. Process Integration–Operational Aspects-EPI208, Lecture-2hrs.

In this Lecture session we will see some of the monitoring features available with in SAP Exchange Infrastructure and how they can be used to track the messages, alerts, errors etc. Features like message search using TREX Index Engine, Debugging, Troubleshooting, Web Dispatcher, User Management (ABAP-J2EE) etc will be covered. The Central Monitoring tools permit the administrator to get a central view of all the components and messaging of the Exchange Infrastructure.

Architectural components including: Computing Center Management System (CCMS), Process Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI), Alerting Framework, and Index Administration using TRex. This session will explain how administrators can leverage these capabilities to get a complete 360 degree view of their process integration landscape from a central tool, and will highlight configuration of the monitoring functions.
