I am glad to announce that we updated the J2EE Migration Kit on SDN. Beside improving the existing documentation, some new downloads are available at http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/sap_j2ee_migration_kit_webpages/tools/tools.html

The J2EE Migration Guide
It contains detailed descriptions how to handle problems based on the experience we made on several migration projects. This covers issues occurring in almost every project as well as strategies we used to migrate vendor proprietary functionality.

The J2EE Assessment Guide
The assessment guide describes a well defined migration process and helps to identify potential risks and to find ways for minimizing risks during a migration project.

The Migration Plug-in for the NetWeaver Developer Studio
The plug-in allows importing projects into SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. During the import all resources are copied into the right project structure and vendor specific deployment descriptors are converted to the corresponding SAP descriptors using XSLT transformations. The plug-in has support for BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere and JBoss.

In the next versions we also plan to make the sources of the plug-in available for downloading. Since it was developed during several projects by at least ten different consultants or developers we first want consolidate the sources to provide a stable API that allows writing extensions. In addition we are implementing support for XDoclet.

Try it out! We appreciate your feedback.
