We would like to quickly recap on recent engagements with influencers of SAP S/4HANA – especially the Global SAP User Group Organization and other user groups around the globe, as well with a dedicated team from the SAP Mentor Organization and some topics we’ve discussed. Good preparation for the upcoming Sapphire in Orlando week May 16th

As always, we had extremely valuable conversations and feedback on SAP S/4HANA from early adopter feedback to customer that just got a sneak preview of the product.  We’d like to use this quick FAQ update to capture the most prominent topics that we discussed. We have picked the top 3 questions from the meetings and would like to share them with you.

It is about the trial system, the roadmap and the innovation discovery – the later one a source of information we highly encourage you to have a look at.

Here is the first question…

How can we get a first impression of SAP S/4HANA now, without waiting for a presentation from SAP? Is it at all possible?

Yes it is! If you want to get familiar with SAP S/4HANA now without waiting, the simplest way is to test it by yourself with the trial system that are available for both - cloud and on premise editions. Find the landing page here https://go.sap.com/cmp/oth/crm-s4hana/index.html or just Google it: S4 trial.

You will be able to test the application via real life scenario going for example from controlling to purchasing to project management, of course leveraging our state of the art user experience with the SAP FIORI technology. Have fun testing the application, and please provide us with your feedback, this is possible directly in the trial.

Here comes the 2nd question, which is key to all projects.

When is the next S/4HANA roadmap update planned, and how often is it updated?

First of all, where you find it: the roadmap can be found via the service marketplace service.sap.com/roadmap

Then go to “Product and Solution Roadmap”, then “Cross Topics” and you will find under “Product Road Maps” the documents for the cloud and the on premise product. The roadmap updates follow the software release logic, with quarterly updated of the documents. For the cloud, each quarterly update will include new information of the current solution and its future development. For on premise we have one key release per year, and the intermediate roadmap updates for Feature Pack Stacks will be rather minor.

You can expect the next update of the roadmap right before SAPPHIRE. You will find update regarding the SAP S/4HANA cloud editions 1605 version as well as on the key release SAP S/4HANA 1511.

Last question: beside the roadmap, where is it possible to find more details about the SAP S/4HANA innovations?

SAP is providing one central place to access the key innovations for each industry and Line Of Business application: the SAP Innovation Discovery.  To facilitate the search for S/4HANA innovations, we have implemented a filter called “Spotlight”, so they show up right on the landing page.

Innovations are categorized in “Current” and “Planned”, to help understand today’s product and how it will evolve in the near future. To make those innovations more tangible and show the value of functionality, we’ve included a business benefit section as well. And of course you can save your personal selection and area of interest, it´s a Fiori. This repository is the best complement to the roadmap document I’ve just mentioned.

You will be able to discover the key feature for each innovation, as well as how they will evolve time. Now it is your turn: go and see those S/4HANA innovations, check them out regularly, and provide us with your feedback.
