Call for Speakers for SAP TechEd Las Vegas Community Sessions

UPDATE: Call for Las Vegas is now CLOSED but the CALL FOR BARCELONA is ON!  Head over to find out more! Proposals due May 6!

As tammy.powlas3 just posted, it's here!  It's already call for speakers time for the premier SAP technical festival of the year, SAP TechEd Las Vegas (September 19-23, 2016).  How are you going to get there?

There are many ways to get to Las Vegas, but you may know that a ticket to SAP TechEd at the Venetian|Palazzo Congress Center in Las Vegas is not easy to come by. But if you're reading this, chances are you're an active member of the SAP Community, and if so, here is your chance for a ticket to Vegas.

For nearly ten years, in valuing the contributions of YOU, the SAP community, SAP has set aside a number of tickets to various TechEds for bright community contributors to present at the annual conference.  I’m delighted to have been part of a team for the past couple of years that has curated a great selection of well-rated sessions, and delighted to get to do it again this year.

What are the community sessions like? They're just like regular sessions and packed with the same important content or even content we may not have heard otherwise -- and we get to hear it from folks like you.

Among some of the highlights from speakers in TechEd Las Vegas 2015 Community Sessions, at least one of the sessions (by ingo.hilgefort2) was standing room only, and three of the speakers (mohamed.hisham, nigel.james, gregory.tutt) were part of three of the six DemoJam finalist teams.

It was paul.hardy2’s first session as a speaker at TechEd.  Not only did he enjoy TechEd overall and took advantage of the opportunity to share his valuable insights, but he later became member of the month here on SCN, saying of his ABAP-related community session “This was the first time I have ever spoken at SAP TechEd. I have spoken many times before at SAP events in Australia. I have to say that TechEd was wonderful, everything I could have expected and more.

kristina.pereyra was selected to present on Lumira based on her contributions here on SCN, where she continues the momentum sharing hands-on Lumira tutorials.

daniel.graversen3 got a lot of great feedback on his SAP Integration best practices session and went on to write about it here and develop further webinars.

greg.tutt enjoyed sharing stories about what it was like to take the DemoJam stage in his bathrobe.

Participation in the SAP community including speaking at community sessions, done right, can open doors to horizons well beyond Las Vegas.

But it both hasn’t always been easy to find excellent candidates (those we might normally miss?), and hasn’t been easy to choose from the many submissions we receive (the majority of which we have to ultimately turn down).

This year, we want to find even greater diversity and unseen talent. We’re again looking for people we may never have heard from at TechEd yet, who have valuable stories we may otherwise have missed for the SAP ecosystem. We’re looking for diversity of all kinds and asking for YOU to help us find it.

As in every year, we won’t be able to accept all sessions proposed and we have a special team in place to help select sessions. To make sure our sessions continue to meet the high quality of sessions past, you must:

  • Be an active contributor to the SAP community, as evidenced by your participation here on the SAP Community Network
  • NOT be an SAP Employee.  These tickets are reserved for opportunities for the external SAP community
  • Be able to fund your travel and expenses to TechEd. We’ll take care of the coveted ticket
  • Be able to demonstrate to us in your submission why your content deserves to be heard – above all the other submissions
  • Be willing to tell us something we’ve never heard before

Is this you?  Let your freak flag fly and let us know now!  SUBMIT YOUR SESSION!

This call for proposals closes on April 22.

{Note: we’re partnering with ASUG to accept and curate session submissions for SAP TechEd but you do not need to be an ASUG member to submit or present}
