In this blog post, I am going to show you how our newly launched native application SAP Mobile Start will help you to manage your daily work more efficiently.

The Finance Manager as a Mobile Persona

Finance managers play a crucial role in ensuring a company’s long-term financial health and strength. This includes planning, defining, tracking, and adjusting financial goals and KPIs. To do so, finance managers rely on accurate information in real time. The need for access to information is not limited to situations where they are in their office at their desk. They might find themselves in situations where a mobile device is the most efficient and best-suited device to look up information, complete minor tasks quickly, or communicate with coworkers on the go. Also, being informed about unforeseen or important business events such as upcoming liquidity issues, potential changes in business-relevant currency rates, expiring credit lines, or unexpected share-price developments is key. Moreover, finance managers often spend a lot of time handling approval and workflow processes from many different systems. All of this makes it difficult to focus on the most important goal – bringing the company forward.

Introducing SAP Mobile Start

SAP Mobile Start is the new native entry point to the Intelligent Enterprise on mobile devices. It provides users with an enhanced mobile access to SAP applications, web content, data, and news feeds to quickly address their daily work – anywhere and anytime.

Users can benefit from persona-tailored content, which will be easy to consume and optimized for mobile situations. SAP Mobile Start can be set up and configured to user needs by IT administrators. It allows users to stay up to date on mobile devices and act immediately on critical business situations. The app offers integration with business applications, enabling higher productivity, and is a key asset to help ensure business continuity directly from mobile devices.

Furthermore, SAP Mobile Start offers a deep integration with native mobile device capabilities such as widgets, notifications or spotlight search.

Improving the Mobile Experience for Finance Managers

As we have learned, immediate availability of the latest information and quick access to all important applications is crucial. SAP Mobile Start helps ensure finance managers get exactly this. They can access their most important Web apps as well as native apps that are important to drive day-to-day activities on mobile devices. The content integrated in SAP Mobile Start can be tailored specifically to the needs of finance managers.

Some of the highlights of SAP Mobile Start that will help in the role of finance manager in the future are listed below.

Widgets have become well known and widespread tools that help keep an eye on the latest information directly on a mobile device’s home screen. Many people use widgets every day on their private mobile devices – checking the weather forecast, stock prices, or the latest news. SAP Mobile Start brings the benefits of widgets to the business user. Checking the company’s real-time cash position, the current days sales outstanding ratio, or the amount of accounts receivable of the most important customer – these and many more insights can become part of the daily routine with SAP Mobile Start.

To search for and access an SAP app, finance managers can use the spotlight search on their mobile devices, typing in the name of the app needed and starting it from the results list.

The push notification feature enables relevant information to be brought to the attention of the finance manager – just as they receive notifications on their private devices with breaking news or messages. This helps ensure that no important business event will be missed.

The integration of and quick access to other software such as SAP Concur, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Ariba solutions, as well as finance-specific mobile apps such as SAP Customer Guide or SAP Analytics Cloud, helps ensure that important mobile use cases are covered.

Integration of SAP Task Center

With Task Center integration in SAP Mobile Start the user will have access to all workflow tasks in one screen. Tasks can be processed with just one click and now the user no longer need to install numerous Inboxes from various applications. This will reduce the time spent by approvers and improve the approval time for critical items. By providing a dedicated screen to access the tasks and notifications, the user has one place to easily process all their “to-do”s.

My colleague Ivan Chaushev describes all details regarding SAP Task Center in his blog post.
