Connecting Successfactors to your HCP instance, really means that Successfactors is being hooked on to your S-user ID.

This S-user ID is then hooked on to a Data Center, which is dependent on your license agreement with SAP.

If you have your HCP instance on the European Data Center, hooking your US-based Successfactors system to your S-user, will put it on a US-based Trial-HCP, regardless that your HCP license is EU based - since no other HCP was available for that region.

If you want to do development for a US based SuccessFactors installation, you need a HCP installation in the same region (US-East in the screenshot above).

Connecting a US-based SuccessFactors to a EU based HCP, ultimately ended up with this screen for me:

This won’t happen if the regions of the 2 installations match each other.
