Hi Everyone,

I hope you have been enjoying Lumira 1.27 and all its powerful and long-awaited set of features that established Lumira as the absolute best of breed in agile data visualization and trusted data discovery. We are very excited and extremely proud to unveil our newest product release: Lumira 1.28.

As innovative and feature-rich as Lumira 1.27 was, Lumira 1.28, which was officially released on August 14th, is packed with a great number of innovations aimed at making trusted data discovery efficient and effective in any business context it is applied.

Lumira 1.28 is the outcome of several weeks of hard work and relentless dedication translating the large amount of invaluable feedback we have received from clients and partners into product features that directly facilitate the process of discovering business insights from corporate data sources, big data repositories and locally stored files, providing simplicity, flexibility and speed.

The list of innovations in Lumira 1.28 ranges from single sign-on option in data acquisition from SAP BW to data blending of multiple SAP HANA online views while preparing data for visualization and from new chart types and enhanced filtering capabilities in stories to new options of conditional formatting and better story page management. Moreover, we have added support for Windows 10 operating system and big data systems such as Spark SQL and Amazon Redshift. Not only has Lumira desktop been significantly enhanced with key functionalities, but also Lumira server for BI Platform and Lumira server for Teams have gained several important features such as prompting for parameter input when refreshing a visualization or story based on SAP BW data.

For detailed information about the innovations on Lumira server 1.28 and the new features related to promotion management, please check out the blog posts of my colleague Gowda Ramu: Lumira Server 1.28 and  Promotion Management.

Update today your Lumira deployment to version 1.28 and experience all the innovations and benefits of our newest release.

In Lumira 1.28, users can now edit SQL statements from queries created through "Query with SQL". When editing a SQL statement, if the fields in the initial dataset are removed or renamed, Lumira will display a data mapping window to allow for corrections or confirmation of field deletion.

Building on the conditional formatting features of Lumira 1.27, now in Lumira 1.28 it is possible to apply conditional formatting on pie, line and time series charts.

Connect seamlessly to a trusted corporate data source using Windows user account through the secure Kerberos protocol.

Exporting records from a dataset is now easier and more flexible. It is possible to export all data points or a selection of data points. Additionally, records can be exported as aggregated or detailed.

Filtering data in Lumira 1.28 became significantly more powerful with support for wildcard. Use the _ character and the % character to replace a single and multiple characters respectively.

There are 2 new chart types: combined stacked column line chart with 1 Y axis and with 2 Y axes.

From a crosstab table, it is possible to perform conditional formatting on multiple values of a dimension, filter certain values and exclude undesired records.

Applying global filters on a story has been a popular request that has been delivered in Lumira 1.28. Filters can now be applied to all pages of a story or to a specific page. The filtering scope can be defined in the story settings.

Continue expanding support for Big Data systems

Lumira 1.28 is supported on Windows 10 operating system. Furthermore, Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 is also supported when accessing Lumira server for BI Platform or Lumira server for Teams.

One of the most awaited features has been the ability to perform data blending on multiple SAP HANA online views. In SAP HANA online views, data are not acquired into Lumira's velocity engine, rather the data are managed and maintained in HANA. Combining data from multiple SAP HANA online views and visualizing them in Lumira charts are powerful innovations delivered in Lumira 1.28.

Continue usability enhancements from previous Lumira versions, Lumira 1.28 delivers now the ability to re-order and rename pages in a story.

Week-based time hierarchies in SAP HANA data source are now supported in Lumira.

Counter calculations can now be added to a dataset to perform "count all" or "count distinct" operations on a dimension.

The importance of big data systems as main data sources for trusted data discovery has grown exponentially. Lumira 1.28 delivers key improvements in optimizing file generation in Hadoop and allowing the monitoring of Oozie jobs from within Lumira desktop.

One of the features that had been eargerly expected was the ability to display input parameter prompts when refreshing a Lumira visualization or story that is based on the Query Panel Extension. This feature has been delivered in Lumira 1.28 and it works great.

Another area that received several improvements is data acquisition from  SAP BW: there is now data acquisition summary and auto hierarchy generation. Additinally, hierarchical filtering with hierarchy node variable is now available.

Now from Lumira server for BI Platform and Lumira server for Teams, when accessing SAP BW, there is SSO support for managed OLAP connections, refresh with prompts in visualizations and stories based on SAP BW and scheduling of Lumira stories that were initially saved with prompt values.

Another long-awaited feature that has been delivered in Lumira server for BI Platform and Lumira server for Teams version 1.28 is the ability to Save, View and Edit Lumira documents that are based on either SAP HANA online views or SAP HANA acquired data.

Finally, now in Lumira server for BI Platform and Lumira server for Teams 1.28, Lumira documents can be promoted across a system landscape of SAP BI systems.

We hope you are as excited as we are about all the innovations in Lumira 1.28. We look forward to receiving your feedback and comments about this great new release.
