This year at TechEd && d-code Las Vegas 2014 the DataGeek team organized the very first SAP Lumira DataGeek Viz-a-Thon with the SAP Community Network and Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF). The event was a great success - using data for social good, promoting SAP Lumira, and training first time users on how to get started.
The idea was simple, bring together DataGeeks, the Community (SCN), and MSF data into one jam session with the goal of learning SAP Lumira, sharing ideas and uncovering insights to help the organization run even better. The end products were stunning and far surpassed expectations. You can check out some of the visualizations that were created at the end of this post.
We had a variety of Lumira skill levels participate, from beginners to experts as well as some very special guests from SAP Customers and Partners, to University Students.
A special thanks to the SCN for helping MC and run the event (marilyn.pratt, jason.cao). Thank you to the SAP Lumira Experts (linda.peruzzi, dong.pan, terry.penner, christina.obry, matt.lloyd, raghuraman.ramakrishnan, ashishc.morzaria, michaeltszhong.sung, jaclyn.churcher and kennethkli) for supporting all of our attendees with expert Lumira advice. Last but not least, thank you to Megan McGuire and Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) for providing the data, attending, and providing us with such a great opportunity to use data for social good.
You can still create your own Data Visualization for social good. Visit the DataGeek III challenge at SAP.COM/DATAGEEK.
