Hello there, I recently joined the SAP Community & Influencers team and my dear colleague mynyna.chau told me about the Blog It Forward Posts and I fell immediately in love with the idea. Even though, I was not blogged forward by another member, I wanted to write something about myself. I think it is a great start into the SAP Community. So, here it is 🙂

About Me

I grew up near the beautiful city Weinheim. The area is also called the Tuscany of Germany and I am really happy to call this beautiful area my home. There was a time when I didn't like my home and I really wanted to break out and explore the world. I've always been a free spirit and hate being locked up or stuck somewhere. It took me a while to realize that my city is really beautiful, if not the most beautiful area in Germany.
After graduating from the Gymnasium, I went to a film acting school in Cologne to discover and develop myself and my skills. It was really the best time and experience in my life so far. I was able to get to know so many interesting people and I also participated in some acting projects that I am very proud of.
However, at that time, I still wanted to study and further educate myself in the economic sector to become a respected professional in this field. Therefore, I subsequently completed a Bachelor's degree in International Business Management, followed by a Master in Business Administration.
During my master’s degree, I lived in the north of England and immediately fell in love with the landscape and the culture. I love to travel and prefer to stay in the deepest forests over being by the sea. I like winter more than summer (yes really), so a Scotland road trip has been the most exciting experience for me so far.
I am a very active person and I am interested in many different sports and like to try out new activities. For example, I've been doing the Sport CrossFit for over five years now and got to know myself and my strengths and what my body is capable of. The nature is the place to be for me, as I love to be surrounded by mountains. My favorite activities are actually hiking and mountain biking in summer and snowboarding in winter. In my free time and when traveling, I like to take photographs and make small image films, whether for private use or for friends.

During my studies I gained practical experience as a working student for SAP in several areas such as the Marketing/Event Management department and I was able to improve my working experience in these fields. I recently joined the SAP Community & Influencers team and I am really proud to be part of the SAP Community and to contribute to the knowledge and information exchange within the community. It is exciting to explore the community and to be given the opportunity to connect and to network all around the globe.

Here are some impressions of my photographic skills 😉 : (Btw, I am also a drone pilot)

Fun/Weird Fact

This fun fact is actually very embarrassing to me and I hope I don't regret mentioning it here. But I can mimic sounds very well with my voice. For example, I can speak very deeply, but also very high. What is really bad, but unfortunately the ugly truth is that I can imitate almost any Pokémon (the old ones). This is absolutely crazy, and I don't know why I have the ability, but when someone says, “imitate Pikachu”, an inner reflex triggers in me and I speak in the pitch like Pikachu. So please never say that sentence to me. 😄

How do you think the way you were raised affects your Career?

My parents raised me contrary, like good cop, bad cop. My father was always very strict (bad cop), whereas my mother (good cop) was far too relaxed when raising me. I can still remember a moment in my school days that I will never forget and that has shaped me to this day. When I was in the 10th grade (I guess), I just didn’t want to go to school one morning and said I would not go today. My mom's reaction was totally unexpected. She said: "All right Julia, you don't have to go to school today, let's just go shopping instead". The reaction came completely unexpected that I just answered: "Ähhmm…. No mom, I can't do that, that would be irresponsible". The bottom line was that we didn't go shopping and I went to school voluntarily. So, in my case a relaxed upbringing did wonders. My parents have always given me the freedom to develop myself and take the path that really makes me happy. Otherwise, they would never have let me go to a drama school in another city, far from home, when I was 19. And behold, I still did a business degree and everything without pressure. Because I was always given a lot of freedom and space, I was always able to express and get to know my creative side. In my current job, this also helps me to think outside the box and to see things from a different perspective.

If you could be a super hero (or are in your spare time) who would you be?

If I were a superhero, I would definitely have these skills: strength, endurance, speed, and empathy (the ability to take other people's pain). The first three characteristics attribute to my sporting activities. I am a very sporty type and love to push my limits. The fact that I've been doing CrossFit for almost five years makes me very strong for a woman. I have also participated in several competitions and I would say that made me tougher. I trained my endurance through regular mountain biking and as a former athlete I was able to perfect my speed. The ability to heal other people would be my wish for superpower. My friends always come to me whenever they need someone to talk to, because I like to listen and help. So, I think if I were a superhero, I would be a mixture of all of the above. Reading minds would also be really cool. 🙂

What is your professional/personal life dream?

I must admit that my professional and personal life dream still is to get a big acting role. This is really my most desired dream. The feeling to get consumed by a role or character is something special. Sounds crazy, I know ;). But I'm a realistic person and I don't want to hope, beg and live at my limit, just waiting for a (maybe) chance. I haven't given up on this dream, I'm chasing it as best I can, but I don't put all my energy into it anymore. I recognized what I really enjoy. And that is to connect with people, to exchange life stories, to entertain groups and just being a little crazy. That's why I'm so happy to be an active part of the SAP Community now. It is a great opportunity for me to develop myself and my abilities.

What do you think are the key elements for a successful project?

In my opinion you need good time management for a successful project. It is important to write down your thoughts and structure all ideas. You should set daily reminders, on which you set a certain time frame and concentrate on the topics of the project. It takes a lot of discipline, but in the end it's worth it if you can quickly access your notes. You can let your ideas run wild, in the end you can still say no. When working as a team on a project, it is important to coordinate often and to divide up the tasks equally and fair.

It would be a pleasure to find out more about you. So, I Blog It Forward to:
