With one of the latest releases of SAP Lumira (1.15) Server is released. More background information is provided by the excellect blog of henry.banks.

In this blog I will walk you through the steps as described in the SAP Lumira Server Installation Guide. Please make sure you meet the Installation requirements as mentioned in Chapter 2 of the Installation Guide prior to the installation. The screenshots taken below are from HANA Studio SPS08 rev. 80.

First step to install SAP Lumira Server is to start your HANA Studio. Please select the system on which you want to deploy SAP Lumira Server and right-click to select 'Lifecycle Management' - 'Platform Lifecycle Management' - 'SAP HANA lifecycle manager'.

You may be prompted to logon with your <SID>adm account and password to get access to the 'Lifecycle Management' tab.

Click on 'Deploy HANA Content'.

Select the appropriate option applicable to your situation and click 'Next'.

Browse to the location where you downloaded the .ZIP file from SAP MarketPlace.

The file will be uploaded. When this is completed click 'Next'.

Click 'Next'.

Click 'Run'.

The content will now be deployed.

After a succesfull deployment click 'Close'.

Next step is to setup the SAP HANA user accounts:

In order to access SAP Lumira Server user accounts must be assigned to one of the following SAP HANA roles created by the installation program:

  • sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_CONSUMER: A user assigned to this role is granted permission to view stories.
  • sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANALYST: A user assigned to this role is granted the same permissions as the BI_DATA_CONSUMER plus the ability to publish a dataset from SAP Lumira.

In this example I'm going to add the 'sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANALYST' role to the user FOEKM00.

Next step is to configure the SQL connection to support the SAP Lumira publishing workflows.

The prequisite for this step is that the HANA user has the following roles assigned:

  • sap.hana.xs.admin.roles::RuntimeConfAdministrator
  • sap.hana.xs.admin.roles::SQLCCAdministrator

Open the SAP HANA admin URL: http://<HOSTNAME>:80<INSTANCE>/sap/hana/xs/admin/

Enter your credentials and click 'Login'.

Browse to 'sap' - 'bi' - 'launchpad' - 'logic' - 'v2'.

Click on 'RepoConnection.xssqlcc' and fill in the user that has the 'sap.bi.common:BI_TECH_USER' assigned to it. Click 'Save'.

A message at the left bottom of the screen will tell you whether the value is succesfully saved. At the top right corner please logout.

Now it's time to aquire data, create visualizations and save it to SAP Lumira Server via Lumira Desktop. First step is to change the preferences with the correct URL for your SAP Lumira Server deployment. Please go to 'File' - 'Preferences'.

I have composed the story displayed below and I'm ready to share it. The data source used is an online HANA Analytic View.

Let's click 'Share'.

Make sure you select both the story on the right and click on 'Publish to SAP Lumira Server'.

Enter your credentials and click 'Connect'.

Click on 'Publish'.

Click 'Done' to close the dialog.

Now let's go to the launchpad of SAP Lumira Server to access our published dataset. Go to the browser and go to the following URL: http://<HOSTNAME>:80<INSTANCE>/sap/bi/launchpad/

Login with your credentials and you are displayed to all datasets you have access to.

As you can see the dataset has been published and the story can be viewed.

With the upcoming release of SAP Lumira 1.16 additional features and functionalities for SAP Lumria Server will be introduced.

Thanks for reading this blog and please let me know if you have any questions!

With kind regards,

Martijn van Foeken
