We are happy to share release candidate 6 of UI5 Web Components with you.

In our latest release, we focused our efforts on some extremely important and valuable topics. The performance of UI5 Web Components was improved significantly, our CLI has a lot of new functionality that comes out of the box for creating both packages and custom web components. Our components list was expanded with quite a few new components, as some of them were radically improved when it comes to mobile support. You can find more details below.

You are welcome to get a taste on our release candidate, we are looking forward to receiving your feedback!

Sincerely
UI5 Web Components Team

RELEASE CANDIDATE 6 OVERVIEW

New Components

The new version of UI5 Web Components comes with a whole bunch of new components. We are adding 8 new components to our list: Avatar, Carousel, Combo Box, File Uploader, Responsive Popover, Segmented Button, Time Picker and Toast.

For more samples and API reference, do not hesitate to visit our Playground.

Mobile Support

Introducing the Responsive Popover component, we are making a huge change when it comes to mobile support. This means that all components that have internal popover, when used on mobile, are opening a dialog. Moreover you can take advantage of this component in your own applications in order to follow the Fiori 3 guidelines.

Performance

Performance was one of our most important topics for the current release. We spent quite some time on working on improving the performance of UI5 Web Components. And the results are more than obvious. If you want to find out more about our performance, feel free to try out our components and get back to us!

Improved CLI

With our latest features regarding our CLI, now you are able to create your own libraries of UI5 Web Components just like ours(main and fiori packages). For every package, it is easy as a single command, to create new web component using our CLI as well. For details check out our docs.

Content Density

We have made setting the content density easier than ever. If you want to set Compact content density to your application all you have to do is add the following class: ui5-content-density-compact. The class can be added to a single component, and will affect only itself or to a parent element, like the body, and it will affect all its children.

Changelog

For further details and especially in case you need to adapt your applications please check out the full changelog. Your feedback is valuable for us, so let us know what you think!

What is coming around the corner?

For our next release we will continue developing new components and improving our accessibility and performance. Stay tuned!
