I had an opportunity to attend the SAP Inside Track held at Deloitte and I would like to share some highlights of the event.

The event started sharp at 09.00 am as promised by the organizers with a warm welcome from senior leadership at Deloitte. Soon after that, participants were asked to move to three different venues for three parallel sessions held, viz Functional Track, Technical Track and Analytics Track.

I was mainly into Technical and Analytics tracks depending on the topics which interested me.

People from different organizations presented some excellent business case scenarios and performance related activities, focusing on topics like SQL & ABAP on HANA, SAP HANA Cloud Integration (Its kind of SAP PI hosted on cloud), SAP FIORI (A web based application which makes SAP interface user friendly for clients - in system & mobile), Master data governance, SAP HANA Live, some idea generation for implementation clubbing HANA & Hadoop and many more. I felt that the sessions were quite useful from theoretical basis and gives you an idea on latest technologies related to SAP. Presentations on SAP FIORI and ABAP on HANA was best of presentations which you will simply say "wow" !

They have recorded the entire sessions and will be available in SCN community for those who missed it.

I would also like to share little notes on topic : SAP Master Data Governance.

SAP Master data governance is a tool which helps to govern the master data of business operation in more effective and efficient manner starting from master data creation to SAP business suite operations across the enterprise. It helps in performing the key business operations like financial reconciliation, supplier on-boarding and spend analysis. It ensures and helps to streamline all the business operations, high quality of data, increase demand of next generation services and good flow of master data across the landscape.

The take away for the presenters while implementing the project are

1. All business framework (BRF) changes or development should be captured in a TR rather than locally saving the content. If the content is saved locally, it is not revertible.

2. Referring to the staging tables should be dynamic.

3. Generate model specific structures for any data model enhancements.

4. When enhancing the data model for custom attributes, its preferable to  use a data element instead of free domain.

5. Adaptable components should be changed at configuration client.

Key skills required for implementation: OOPS ABAP, ABAP, IDOCS, FPM, Web Dynpro, Work flow.

The fundamental difference between MDG and MDM is that MDG uses ABAP stack whereas MDM uses Java stack.

Please find links below which details on presentation regarding SAP FIORI and also overview on SIT Hyderabad - Technical Track.

The event concluded with simple valedictory function in which participants was asked to provide feedback of sessions held. All the participants held a view that these of events should be organized more in coming days, at least once in quarter because productivity for participants is too high for the cost involved in organizing the event. It would be great if more organizations come forward for offering support by providing infrastructure which is all the needed and necessary for events.
