Am really excited :smile: and thrilled :smile: to share my experience on the SIT (SAP inside track) that was held at Hyderabad on 22 Feb 2014. SIT ,being the first major event to attend with SAP I was very much happy for participating in it. For beginners like me it was a complete enjoyment where knowledge was over flowing on different fields which we never know before.
Introduction:
I was the part of the technical track attendee on which I would like to summarize on all the sessions that we have undergone. Other than technical we also had functional and analytical tracks. In all there were a total of more than 250 participants which was said to be the record attendance.Thanks to mahesh.kumar8 and the deloitte team for organizing the event well and making it a grand success.
Technical track:
In all the technical track team was privileged to have 11 sessions on different fields of SAP. Of this 11 session one was surprise for all of us since it was not in our schedule. All the presenters were rocking completely with their presentations, Demos and Q & A sessions. Hats off to all you presenters for making such a wonderful contribution to the entire technical track.
If I intend to explain on each sessions in detail probably I would require to create 11 different blogs, because all the sessions was so informative and commendable. Though I have not created 11 blogs I have created two different blogs on topics taken by the winner and runner-up award holders out of all the presenters for their outstanding presentation. You can read those blogs which I have mentioned below for more information.
In this Blog I would summarize on all the sessions so that you can get a overall picture of what happened in SIT and the success factors. I would start up with the first session till last session, hope you will gain something. As a beginner none of the sessions other than ABAP in HANA was familiar to me but still am in a position to explain on what happened in each session, that shows the quality of the presentation. :smile:
SESSION1: SAP FIORI by Tanmay Hoshing
As I told you above this session was the runner up award winner so I have created a separate blog on this session which you can find in the below link,
This session dealt with SMP – SAP mobile platforms.
The following are the key points to be noted:
In short SMP can support both online and offline applications.
In traditional method we have three different layers but with HANA we have only two layer where application layer is pushed to down layer.
It basically operates on the functionality of O data service generation which will be consumed by SAP UI5.
Wisemen also gave us a brief idea about architecture and other details. We also happened to see the look and feel of SMP which added more flavor to the session :smile:
SESSION3: SAP UI5 application to track SAP Project deployments by Naveen:
This session was of good interest since it was dealing with project deployment.
In the session the following key points were covered:
It is a customized tool for code Review.
It is helpful to track on the objects and give report to the project team.
The three primary users of the tool are developer, project team, and Quality analyst.
They also covered the application overview and runtime environment.
The required technologies for this application are
SAP business Suite 7.3 or more
Eclipse juno 4.2
UI add-ons on SAP Netweaver.
We had a demo session by naveen and other member of his team which made the session very interesting.
SESSION4: MDG by Archana:
This was another session which dragged us all into the subject.
Basically MDG means Master data governance which helps in safe guarding the data from creation till usage.
The following are different aspects of MDG:
Maintain.
Validate.
Approve.
Replicate.
Adapt.
Key points:
The redundancy and streamlining of data lead to need of MDG.
Its operational cost is low, flexible and high accuracy.
All configuration in ECC can be used.
Key factors for Custom data model was also discussed.
MDG is based on ABAP stack where as MDM is based on java stack.
Certain issue are:
Once the BRF application is opened it must be saved in TRs and not in local objects since it is not revertible.
Inconsistencies among structures.
While using implicit enhancements code get replaced during upgrades so use of post exits is always best practice.
Key Skills required:
Oops ABAP, ABAP,idocs/SOA,FPM(Floor plan manager),Web dynpro, work flow.
Apart from all the discussions Archana along with her colleague shared her project experience, the problems they faced etc.
SESSION5: SAP HANA cloud integration (HCI) by Jaya prakash
SAP offers cloud applications on four domains namely,
People
Customer
Money
Supplier
Key points:
Connects to third party cloud.
It is only a application offer, entire integration content is available to customers by SAP.
Content seen by one customer is not seen by other customers.
They also explained scenarios on which PI and HCI are selected one over the other.
Real time process analysis.
Implementation cost and time is less.
Zero downtime maintenance, Upgrades are reliable since done by SAP.
Success factor adaptor:
They have a success factor adaptor which takes care of:
Session handling.
Mapping according to Structure requirement etc.
With all these sessions we also had look and feel about the HANA cloud by Jaya prakash which gave a perfect finish to the session.
SESSION6: Sales force CRM cloud integration by Sreedhar:
This was another interesting session which gave us more subject knowledge. The key points covered are:
Sales force is going to be single stack on PI.
Its has low expense which is one of the key business benefit.
It supports the following protocols.
SOAP.
SFTP
HTTPs
During trouble shooting the error always say HTTP_EXCEPTION 500 error, for knowing what error SAP UI is used which gives the description of error.
We actually had a demo on this session which kept us interesting.
Skill Set Required:
JAVA.
SESSION7: SAP HANA live by Anjali and Aditya:
Demo wise this was the best session which amazed all of us. Looking at its flexibility and speed in data analysis it was too good.
Basically HANA live is real time operational reporting, analyzing the data as soon as it is generated. It is a kind of ready to use preconfigured solution.
HANA Layer:
Data base layer.
Web application layer.

Query
Reuse
Private
Scenarios:
Side car scenario – customer with complex landscapes.
Integrated scenario- who already have HANA.
Analysis tools:
SAP Lumira.
Business object analysis.
As I have told you earlier this session was mostly of demo which was truly amazing to watch.
SESSION8: ABAP in HANA by Sundaresan:

This session mostly dealt with SQL data base systems. The following are the key points of the session:
They have two functions namely tabular and scale.
They have two variable types namely scalar variable(can’t have string) and table type variable.
They have two types of procedure namely static and dynamic.
Basically this follows the principleof calling Auto sys job to coordinate the tera data to HANA using shell scripts.
Krishna along with his colleague have made the session much interesting with their presentations.
SESSION10: Surface equipment information mangaement by Vijayanand:
This session was taken by a team lead by Vijay which made this final session more interesting. The following are the key points to note:
Built using ABAP web dynpro.
It’s a one stop solution for creating work order etc.
Easy to view and use.
Faster and high performance(Web based solution).
Reduce manual effort.
Portal integration.
Clear separation of business and display logic.
SESSION11: SAP Mobility:
This was the surprise session for all of us. It was taken by a deloitte employee. This was another interesting topic which ensured we had enough of knowledge for the day. This session was also the third prize winning session of the day. Thanks to the presenter for making it a hit.
The following are the key points to be noted:
It supports all devices.
Instant Mobilization.
Its about 20% deployment and 80% implementation.
An important output of this module is SMS builder.
Rapid UI
Hybrid web- KAPSER (Cordova based HTML 5 container).
Basically a browser wrapped with hardware services enabled.
The choices in mobile application development are: HTML5,Hybrid with SAP mobile,Native.
CONCLUSION:
I already know my blog has gone big though I have squeezed the contents, because I cannot miss the key points. As I have earlier to explain all sessions briefly each will require a blog which I hope my other technical track participants perhaps do that.
In this world where knowledge is not for free in many places I felt rich at least on the day with so much knowledge gained.
