Dr. Richard Wallace (pictured) from the Center of Automotive Research (Ann Arbor, Michigan) will keynote the upcoming ASUG Automotive and ASUG Michigan joint chapter meeting to be held March 17 at the MSU Broad Education Center in Troy (Michigan).  Dr. Wallace serves as Director of Transportation Systems Analysis at CAR and will present "Connected Vehicles: A New Data Source" as part of the morning general session. Dr. Wallace will be joined by ASUG CEO Geoff Scott with a special welcome along with leadership from both the ASUG Automotive SIG and ASUG Michigan Chapters.  Steve Bickerton, Solution Principal for Data and Analytics COE at SAP America will round out the morning general sessions with his presentation "Embracing the Connected World for Enterprise Value."

"The event allows SAP the opportunity to share what we have observed and learned around key trends and insights from working day to day with the current market. It also provides us with an opportunity to educate people on the latest SAP advancements around our key offerings. The biggest benefit for us is to hear first-hand from the SAP customer community on topics that are top of mind to them.  It's important for us to understand what key challenges companies are battling on a day-to-day basis - this way we can come together and hopefully provide a solution for the near- and long-term future."

Afternoon sessions will feature three tracks including automotive, BI and analytics, and a general track of topics.  Attendees can mix and match track sessions based on their interest level for specific topics.  An evening reception with door prizes provided by event sponsors will cap off the day-long program.

Last year's joint event saw an attendance surpassing 120 participants.  Early registration trends for this year's event suggests over 200 participants may join in the one-day offering free to current ASUG members and ASUG member companies. ASUG Michigan Vice Chair, Dawn Solomon of Haworth, is excited for the chapter and membership growth expected this year thanks in large part to programs such as its joint Automotive meeting. "As an ASUG member since 2008, I am excited that we have nearly doubled our attendance at our face to face meetings over the past two years.  We have listened to our members and made changes to our programs to ensure members are getting the most value from our meetings.  Hot topics like Big Data, Reporting and our commitment to support the Automotive community as well as the SAP University Alliance Program have proven to be very successful with our membership base."
